This looks really good, I missed out on the PM2 version so I'm probably gonna buy this Para 3. To anyone who has experienced Spyderco's marbled CF before, what's your opinion?

Well, Elmax is Elmax, not much to say about it. It's a super steel right up there with the best of the best.

The marbled CF scales are gorgeous, they have a reflective holographic quality that cannot be captured in video or picture. You need to see it in person to fully appreciate it. I actually took mine off and put on micarta burlap just to get a better grip, but I'm probably going to put them back on soon, now that I have more PM2's. The CF scales aren't slick, per day, but they are very smooth with very little texture.

I believe in function over form, so I will sacrifice good looks for a better grip. If you're like me, then this knife probably isn't for you, unless you want it as a collector item or special occasions. But it's not appropriate (to me at least) for EDC.

Otherwise, it's a very beautiful knife with a wow factor and very high end steel.

Sweet, thanks for all the replies. I thought the scales were blue at first, must be a trick of the light.

I have the pm2 version, one of my favorite knives. I'm just scared to mess up those scales so I don't carry it often.

A Shaman with Elmax and contoured marbled CF would probably be around $300 street price.

I've gotta wonder if that CF is really any more expensive than the micarta they're making now.

It’s not just the material. CF is tougher to contour.

The street price difference between a regular production Para3 and Shaman is about $70 which I added to the Fradon Para3 at $220 to round up to $300.

Yeah I don't know about toughness. Most of both materials is resin, I'd be surprised if the machine that's making the scales can even tell the difference. It would have more to do with the cost of raw materials. Still even at $300 I bet it would sell. How much was the S90V/CF Shaman? I'd assume the prices would be similar, Elmax may change the cost but I'd be fine with a different steel.

The Shaman S90V/CF Sprint Run from May 2019 was $279.44 (MSRP $429.90 & MAP 35% off). Add inflation, MAP discount of just 30% off now, the Spyderco price increases of January 2022 and you’ll easily end up with $300+ for the Shaman Elmax/Marbled CF.
