Does anyone have any idea when this will be dropping?

I didn't even know this was going to happen. Is this an exclusive from someone?

From the last reveal. I think it's a distributor exclusive being sold direct to consumer for some reason.

It's that Earth Brown M390 distributor exclusive that we have seen with other models. Last I believe was the Manix 2. However, for some reason it will be sold direct to consumer from Spyderco which I guess means it will come at full MSRP. So not the best value. You can see the prices on the downloadable version. The prices are why I skipped it and just got an S30V version recently.

I don’t believe that it’s the distributor exclusive (Moteng?) that commissioned that Manix. Spyderco is calling it a sprint run with (iirc) no mention of that distributor.

Being consumer direct, maybe Kristi will make an announcement thread at the top of the forums when they go live? Or the Spyderco App should be a good heads up for when these are available.

Seems like there must be some story behind it. I don't think Spyderco would do a sprint run on a single model that has been done in other models before. All the other Sprint Runs have been unique to Spyderco (not duplicating other exclusives).

I cannot wait for this one. I will buy one the day it drops. But my secret desire is an S45VN Manix with a brush finished blade, natural canvas or brown burlap micarta scales, and a factory titanium cage.

If the price could at least come close to matching the CF/S90V Sprint @ $245, I would be there on day 1 with you.

would this be the most corrosion resistant Chief so far? or S90V? I'm tempted because I currently have no stainless Chiefs.

I would think M390 beats out S90V in corrosion resistance, but not by much. The way Larrin had them ranked, I believe M390 is just below LC200N.

I'm quite excited for this one, especially the variant with the black blade. The more I use my REX45 Chief the more I appreciate the design.

The combination doesn’t call to me but reading this thread makes me think how much I really really really enjoy the native chief. It’s a very well thought out design.

I have been able to put rust on s90v with relatively normal use, but never on m390.

That is one fine blade, and one finer firearm, good sir! Always appreciated Steyr. Though every time I set out to buy one, I invariably come home with a new HK instead :')
