Spyderco Cat 440C vs BD1N differences?

Can anyone fill me in on what are the differences between these?

I found some reviews saying for example that 440c is on teflon washers, and that bd1n switched to ball bearings.

Is this true and are there any other changes? I'm looking to buy it and can't find any info on the bd1n version.

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.

I'm very sure the Cat did not switch to ball bearing washers with the change to CTS BD1N. The evolution of the knife actually took its blade steel from 440C to CTS BD1, to CTS BD1N, but the other details of its construction remained the same.

There was one other difference. The 440C versions had jimping on the thumb ramp and the choil for a long while. There was also an S30V blade version and it had carbon fiber scales.

It’s an excellent value and an efficient cutter. Wouldn’t mind tracking down one of the CF/S30V variants.
