I cracked open my two Sages to see how much work would be involved to swap blades.
Interesting pics!
Looks like "Sage 1 blade into Sage 2" is doable with a bit modding, but vice versa ("Sage 2 blade into Sage 1") would cause problems.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
Really the only good answer is for a reissue of the Sage 2 in one of the more interesting steels. That would solve the OP's problem and allow me to snag one!
I guess that trying to have a Sage 1 blade fit in Sage 2 scales would take a custom makers who already has a lot of experience with making folding knives - and still there would be little warranty that the result would work well.
Sage 2 in s90v would be a nice touch ... so would be Sage 5 ... just sayin'
Awesome pics thank you!
Thinking that perhaps the way to go would be to leave the blade alone as to keep a working sage 1, and grind the frame of my old sage 2 in the frame lock area to fit the sage 1 blade?
Thanks again, great thread!
