I have a problem...

So... I have a problem.
I just pick up the darned knife now and go out the door. No sitting there wondering which one, appreciating the pros and cons of each for each situation. I just stick the thing (Native5 s35vn half serrated half plain) into my pocket and go.

It's not that I've lost interest in knives. It's not that I don't care. It is just that this one feels right.

This happened earlier, with the Deilica, but this time it is worse. It has me asking, why am I treating a very nice knife the same as a pedal wrench or a pair of pliers?

Yes a knife is a tool but it also has a certain aesthetic, etc. And a technical aspect in terms of blade shape, material, etc.

This is weird behavior, not sure how to explain it. Maybe I just found one I like best right now?

I've had the same thing happen with several models, but it always wears off after a while (in my case).
First it was the Endura, then the PM2, then the GB1, then the Manix 2, etc.
Now I'm back to being stuck staring at displays and trying to decide for 10 minutes before even putting my pants on :')

Tastes are constantly changing. It's all perspective. I'm currently in the process of swapping several of my knives for different models as my outlook changes on certain things.

My favorites always change, but for now, it really feels like the Native could finally be the one best knife for me.

I think it's like a good pair of steel toe boots, when you have the right ones you don't have to think about them anymore. They don't hurt your feet and they're comfortable all day. When you get that comfortable and familiar with a knife it really becomes second nature to use and that's how I prefer it. That's also why I have a hard time doing any kind of rotation and why I have so many knives collecting dust.

I really like the Natives too. With the exception of my Dragonflys, I have more Natives in the collection than anything else. LC200N LW, Maxamet LW, Jade M4, Fluted CF S90V, 40th Anniv. Any one of them would make a great 'only' knife.

There is only one right knife. So even if it feels wrong, if it is right, you have to do what is right. Right?

Once you have found the one you like more than others, Buy three of them.

Wish I had of with the GB1 and the catcherman ;)

I meant away from work. Nothing will replace that thing. It’s perfect for work. Always in my pocket and used a lot.

The "goldilocks" knife is a wonderful thing, but that feeling doesn't always last. Use cases may change, conditions may change, but there's generally a Spyderco for every situation.

Yep, the one I always get drawn back to is the Military. Have it in different steels right now M4 is the steel of choice trying to get a better perspective on it and I am not disappointed at all.
