When it comes to blankets for both warmth and comfort and also durability and price points, what do you all suggest? I have seen military surplus wool and cotton and synthetic fabrics and also moving blankets and more.

Hudson Bay seems to make some good ones.

I saw ads for moving blankets that are durable and large. Would those be comfortable for a human to use for sleeping and warmth or not?

We have several Hudson Bay blankets - really good all round, but in the deep winter for us its a down duvet. The Hudson Bay blankets are very well made.. Got ours at The Bay just up the road... (The Bay is the modern name for Hudson Bay Company)

I love those old Army woolen blankets. I usually sew them between two sheets, put a few yarn tacks in them, and call it a quilt. It will really keep you warm.

Unless you need something you can just throw in the washer, I'd go with wool for blankets and down for comforters.

I like the surplus wool blankets. They're cheap, durable, and warm. A lot of people complain that they're itchy but they haven't bothered me. The only negatives for me is that they're heavy and bulky, but they don't leave my house so that isn't much of an issue either.
