Any thoughts on these? Maybe by a company called Purism. Anyone know if they're using x86 chips in the computers and whether they've disabled the backdoors from everything negative of the 0 ring? We know that the management engine still has some undecyphered blobs which causes some concern but is everything else good to go?

why wouldn't VOIP apps do similar data mining to cellular carriers?

My brother has used VOIP due to poor cell service in his area, it's been a mixed bag as far as call quality and incoming connectivity.

Free and open source VOIP, encrypted end to end. No baseband antenna in the phone until/unless you insert one to make a call on the carrier. Then you can remove the board again after making the call which physically removes the baseband antenna so no carrier can collect your data. Since they're putting physical kill switches on the phone/computers i don't know why they couldn't do the same with the baseband, but I'm not designing the phone and I'm no engineer.

I don't like the idea of needing wifi at all times, though. I don't live in a city where there's wifi everywhere.

I think they're really onto something with their computers though. Same with, iirc, the raptor talos.
