Smock released/available this week hmmmmmmm!

I'm assuming when Eric said "shipping this week" he meant it would ship from Spyderco to distributors, so we'll probably see at retailers sometime next week. That's my thought at least, could be totally wrong.

I think it’ll still be awhile. The Collector Club Members still haven’t received them yet. They seem to get knives a few weeks prior to the drop.

Trying to not start holding my breath until I see the first glimpses of the collectors club receiving their Smocks. That has seemingly been a reliable measure of when a new release is 1-2 weeks away, and I don’t see why the Smock distribution would be any different.

No more news? I thought these would be in stores by now.

If this knife sucks, I'm going to be pretty upset after being on preorder for a year now! Annoying weekly emails from KnifeCenter this entire time.

When I first saw it, it was a must have. Loved the out of the ordinary design. Had a feeling it would go quickly once released, so I jumped on the early opportunity not to miss out.

You've never preordered a knife before??

I’ve taken steps to be sure I’d get one of the knives I wanted in a shipment, but only because I live in Canada and the pickings are slim. If I lived in the States I would never put in a pre order on a standard production. There are so many dealers to choose from I don’t see the need. Pre orders for you yanks just seem to always lead to disappointment and frustration.

Not always. I've done a whole bunch of pre-orders and I haven't been disappointed yet. I know some have though because they get on the list too late. However, I do agree that pre-ordering a regular production model is kind of pointless. I've done a few times but I don't see the need anymore.

The Kapara is a good example. A regular production knife, that sold out very quickly. Now, it's out of stock everywhere. Yes, it will be in stock again, but who knows how many months that will take. That's why I jumped on the Smock, long ago. Because of situations like the Kapara.

I've got plenty of knives to keep me occupied in the meantime, but I know me...if I desire something and have the ability to get it, I want to take that chance instead of seeing a bunch of pics and posts about said item being amazing and the best thing since sliced bread...knowing that I had the opportunity and didn't jump on it.

I sure wish we would get a clarification or a retraction of Eric's "The smock is shipping this week!" comment at Blade Show. That was over two weeks ago and we still haven't even seen CC knives showing up on Ebay yet. I hope they didn't hit another QC snag like on the first go around.

Just watched a video of the Native 5 Jade DLC on YouTube ! In the comments someone ask if the Smock is coming. ..he says yes! So I think you'll see it next week!
