My stormtrooper is now a scout--or something like that.

Apparently BRG is not easy to photograph.

That is some really good salt, though.

My Military 2 after 27 minutes in a very potent solution--3.5 cups water to 7 oz of dye--of Tropical Teal Rit Synthetic. I was worried that the color would be too light for the digi camo scales, so I didn't dilute the dye very much, and then I just kept on a'simmerin' until they picked up the color. I was hoping for a little more of a bluish shade but they ended up being more of a teal-green, which I guess shouldn't be surprising given that they were mostly green scales that went into teal dye. As seems to be the maxim for this process: not exactly how I thought they'd turn out, but I'm still pleased with the results. Tried to take a photo with some natural light, because they have a nice hue in the sunlight.

And a general question to anyone with an opinion: what color cerakote should I put on the blade, clip, and hardware? Probably should have figured that out first. Any thoughts are appreciated.

A light golden-sandy brown colour would contrast nicely if that’s your bag.

That's very different from what I had been thinking, but I can imagine it and like it. I like it a lot.

I once saw a custom knife maker do that combo and it looked really nice. I’m not one for shades of brown normally, so you can imagine my surprise when I found myself seriously considering buying it.

Couldn't quite find a "golden-sandy brown" that I liked as much as plain old gold, so I just went with plain old gold. I love it--thanks for the idea.

We’ll finally pulled the Rit dye trigger on the GP Manix 2 in white with the DLC black blade. Was going for OD green but came out more like Coyote tan. Still happy with how it turned out!

Also did the GP Native in REX with white scales…to brown.

Please share the formula you used for this color. That is hella nice and the color I'm thinking for mine with the satin blade.

I dyed my Salt the most unfortunate shade of pea green.

I would rather have that than the mint green from the BladeHQ exclusives 😵‍💫

The mint is pretty bad too. I guess that’s what black Rit Dye is for.

Here's my unfortunate plum purple with and odd hint of brown Yojumbo scales. The color was supposed to be "smokey blue"--that's probably why there's a little brown in it--but I mixed the dye too strong, which was especially foolish of me when I was dying natural/jade G10 of a BladeHQ exclusive. I've been thinking about getting some Rit Dye remover and trying again, but on the other hand, the color is kind of unusual, and I like my knives to be kind of unusual. The final decision will probably depend upon my local Cerakote shop: if there's a color for the blade and hardware that looks good with the purple I'll leave the scales as is, if not, I'll try to fix them. Opinions on the purple are welcome though.
