Is it boiling? Haven't had this issue with FRN. Have not tried the FRCP. Did have an issue with the Polestar G10, but I cranked up the heat and it solved it.

I always use half the bottle if I’m doing one color lol. High heat, half a bottle, small stainless pan 3/4 way with water. Usually takes 5-10 minutes for FRN. 10-20 for G10. Never tried FRCP.

The entire dying process for dying a salt knife a single color takes me 10 minutes.

Finally dyed the manix salt. First time trying a lighter color (not black) on frcp, and it was interesting. First attempt i was going for more of a gold or caramel color with sandstone dyemore. I got it, but it showed every imperfection from the scale molds including the injection spots. It was all blotchy on the smooth parts. It annoyed me enough, that i scotchbrighted it smooth and increased the dye ratio a little. Also upped the temp from 200 to a rolling boil, and let it go darker. Got this, and its growing on me. Some of the yellow peaks from underneath giving it sort of a bronze effect. May strip it off and keep it yellow, or go black eventually. We'll see.

First go around, about 3 minutes. When i re-did it again it wasn't more than 5 mins. No warping issues, but i only took it apart on the first attempt. Second try i just dumped the whole knife in, like i do with all salts. Figured if it couldnt handle a few mins in dye, then it wouldn't my day-to-day saltwater exposure work days much either.

dyed my Stretch XL Salt.



1/3 cup of sage dye, 6 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon white vinegar. brought a sauce pot to a rolling boil then did 10x 3 second soaks.



The color looked really dark in the pot, guess I used more dye than I needed.



30 seconds gave a decent coat. The logo pads came out a little yellow but I'll live.





Here it is next to my OD green 4 max:




Proceeded to use the knife to make lemonade:






Here it is next to some Pacific Salts. Top knife is dark green, stretch is sage, bottom is kelly green:



Much happier with it now. I appreciate the function of the yellow handles but man they're ugly Really pleased with the shade of green the Sage color gave it.

Saved the dye in a mason jar because I plan to do it again someday. Like I mentioned the logo pads look a little yellow still, but I was also afraid of soaking it too long and having it come out like the dark green.

Just a curiosity...

How might it work to use a small model paint brush to selectively apply more dye to just the logo area? It may allow for darkening that area without affecting the rest of the handle.
