Native 5 Salt

#1

Post by carrot »

The Native 5 Salt with FFG LC200N and a delicious Salty yellow FRN handle... definitely at the tippy top of my wishlist to buy and carry this summer!

It's gonna make a heck of a backpacking knife and should be a killer for swim shorts too.

Anybody else totally stoked?

Yep and it finally showed itself in the 2018 Catalog this afternoon.

Couldn't have asked for a better first FRN/LC200N model.

Maybe if we're lucky a Chaparral Salt will be next. :D

Very cool just sorry to not see a combo edge option, should be nice in this steel.

I presume the coated hardware isn't LC200N and this is for rust protection.

Yes that's interesting...

I plan to swap out the yellow scales to make an all-black version.

My two cents (since I have a Native or two ;))... The screws and lockbar are blacked out (most likey DLC) to waterproof them! It is a Salt after all. If they used something else, I’d love to know!

Also, it says it’s available as PE or SE but they’re missing the little blade graphic below that shows the available edge types (look at the rest of the folding Salts). And this isn’t the first Salt N5 if all they did was use a LC200N blade and DLC hardware, the Never Summer exclusive was a partially serrated version. :)

Definitely need one of these. Been wanting another Salt since I got the Manbug version, but wasn't sure which one to get next, this is it. (Hopefully to be followed by a Salt UKPK at some point.)

Excellent! I am so glad. YOU were one of the very people I was hoping would be able to get this knife! :) Great news that it is an official item to be produced.

I was going to pick up an orange Native5LW from CS for a backpacking knife due to the light weight and bright color but didn't since I already have an orange Delica4 for that job. I think this yellow Native Salt will be outstanding in that application. Bright colored so it is hard to lose, very low maintenance and easy to sharpen. Although it is not its intended application I think this may become a woods knife for me. The Native has always worked out well as wood carving knife for me.
