Would those of you here who are into the Byrd knives, ever want or be interested in a Byrd folder or fixed blade with H1 or Lc200N steel blades? But the more realistic question is: Would the expense of these specialty steel blades be too much for the Byrd line, which is a more economical line of Spyderco blades, or, would the two match up well together? What are your thoughts on this, Sal? Would you like a folder that had the basic Byrd shape and structure, but, with one of those rustproof steel blades?

Well, what would be the most stain resistant steel that China could work with? o.O

It feels like a lot of the extreme rust resistant steels would be easy to work with machining-wise.

That's my biggest issue with 8Cr13MoV. I've had it rust 2 or 3 times.

Shipping steel into China has its challenges. Tariffs, time in China, etc. The main issue is really heat treating, which is an art, more than a skill when dealing with exotic blade steels. Not too many in China have the equipment and skill in that area at this time.

I think I more mean: There are a lot of kitchen knives being made in China, with Chinese steel.

Do those steels perform much worse than 8Cr13MoV?

We don't have much experience with Chinese made kitchen knives so I have little knowledge to share.

You know, I think I only ever ran into rust with 8Cr13MoV was when I store it for a long time. It's a little humid here.

I store a Cara Cara rescue in my car for a year or two (before I replaced it with an Assist) and it started to rust. I imagine CTS-BD1 is more rust resistant, so maybe that's what I've been hoping for. I need to use my CTS-BD1 blades more, it's a good steel.
