Pushing my own necro thread - shame on me... ;)

Sooooo... I still own no Maxamet. Sal confirmed that there will be more models, but also that it's a difficult steel, with all that comes with that (limited quantities, higher price, delayed availability). I don't want to wait any longer. I finally want to know what the fuzz is all about. :D

I already own a PM2, Para3, Manix 2, and Native. I'd still like to follow my rule not to have doubs of models, except for the MTs. Leaves the Sage 1.

I'm really no big fan of WLL knives. If it was a Sage 2/3/4 or 5, we'd not be having a conversation. :p But what can I do? It's a Sage 1.

I do like the full steel liners, not nested. And I'm fine with G10 (though I think the Maxamet grey is kinda dull...). The price is just ok. The leaf shaped blade is perfectly fine. The WLL really is the only drawback. Or is there another?

We need an updated list!

The Maxamet Manix is a lightweight model, so it's the same but different than your G10 in Cru-Wear.
The Maxamet Sage is a lot of money for a knife you don't think you'll like. However, i believe the Sage also supports a charity. I'm sure someone that loves the Sage will say something to nudge you over the edge. :D

Michael, can you not increase your unique steels without duplicating models by pursuing early models, like a Jess Horn2 in AUS8?

Sure, the "retired steels" are all on my "missing steels" list. Thing is that I'm not part of bladeforum etc where these knives might be offered from time to time, and I'm not willing to pay moon prices on the bay.

I wouldn't buy any knife that I don’t like the design of though, just to add that steel. I must like the knife....

Sage?
I ordered a Rex45 Lil Native from Deadwood's website. They had a problem with my credit card and sent me an email saying they would hold the knife for me until i contacted them, which i did and then I had the knife a few days later. I thought that was exceptional customer service on their part. The only thing i don't like about Deadwood is that their prices tend to fluctuate on their website.

Sage 1 Maxamet, yes. Yesterday the price on their eBay shop was almost 20€ lower than the one on their website. Now i'm curious how fast they'll ship, and how long it will take to arrive here...

Very nice. I'll catch up to the 40 as soon as the Swick comes out. ;) [WHEN???]

These are my missing steels (as always, only related to :spyder: knives - I collect only those really):
LC200N (reserved for the Swick)
Maxamet (soon to arrive in a Sage 1)
M390 (reserved for a SpyOpera, unless something more appealing comes along)
D2
3V
4V
CPM154
Damasteel
PMA11
Cobalt Special
B75P
B70P
PD#1

Not yet available from Spyderco:
M398
Vanax
Rex-121
15V
Vanadis 8
MagnaCut aka Larrinite

"Retired steels":
AUS-8
GIN-1
ATS-34
ATS-55
440V/S60V

Any mistakes, please point me to them. I know there are more steels than those listed in the "not yet available" section, but these are being referenced from time to time, that seem to have a chance to surface.
