Using my mule to make a slightly modified Kentucky mule. Little touch of New Orleans in there too.

The "Cocktail Codex" by Day, Fauchald, and Kaplan has been a great guide for me. This summer I was drinking Daiquiris and the Ti' Punch - a "Rum Old Fashioned" in their words - made with a locally available rum that has both 'hogo' and is quite reasonably priced. We had some rain here in central Indiana, which cooled things off. That coincided with the start of College Football's "Zero Week" opening weekend tonight (late yesterday). Up here it feels like fall in my native state of GA. So, I've been drinking more traditional Old Fashioneds, with by Day, et. al.'s description in the Codex, with their recommended Elijah Craig and similar bourbons, as a template. Full bodied American Whiskey, slightly chilled with a large single ice cube; mixed with bitters, home made Demerara simple syrup, and expressed citrus twists; is quite the treat.

NOT Newcastle brown ale anymore :( Lagunitas' version isn't the same as the original, too rough and heavy by comparison...

Having a bottle of Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or at hand takes some of the sting out of the Newcastle disappointment though, since it never fails to satisfy!

Yesterday I picked up a bottle of The Naked Grouse - https://scotchwhisky.com/magazine/lates ... nded-malt/. It's good whisky at a reasonable price. I just made an Old Fashioned with it. Wow. It tastes like an fancy orange / citrus chocolate.

Just tried their stuff for the first time a few weeks ago at “the freshtival” put on by my favorite brew, Henhouse. You in the Bay Area?

Hey SF Native - I'm located in northeastern Massachusetts. Allagash is based in Portland, ME, a little over an hour from me, so it's relatively popular and pretty easy to find out my way, especially the "White." Glad to see its gone coast to coast!

Nothing fancy; Kettle One martini, straight-up, rocks on the side, a whisper of vermouth with three onions in a suitable chilled Baccarat crystal vessel.
