To be very clear, this is not me, I was talking to a guy about knives and he mentioned something that I thought was a typo and then he put up this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnSBhLo8sso . If this doesn't stagger you then realize this was done by hand with benchstones .

I did a mirror convex zero grind on two saber Delica 4's by hand with bench stones and final polish with a bench strop. It is not difficult, just slow and you have to pay attention the whole time. My ZDP took me five hours. My father's VG-10 took about four hours using his stones and strop. He had admired mine last fall when I visited him, so I did his and gave it to him as a gift. He was thrilled!
I used diamond plates for the shaping, then water stones, then the strop. My dad has more of that stuff than I do, so using his was not so bad. I did mine in my shop and his while seated at a kitchen table. I felt like a katana polisher.

That is impressive.

Impressive, but then I saw Unit(Ken) do a ZDP stretch to a zero grind before too.

OK, it is awesome, no one could ever, ever argue that. It would be nice to have them
in your collection. I wish that I had the time to do it. But the thing that I can't get out
of my head, is who has the time to do things like this. Perhaps if you are retired.
Maybe it is because I can't keep up with office work, work at home etc, etc and am
running nonstop to keep up. Don't get me wrong, It's awesome work, something to
show off and be proud of. But after spending that much time getting to that point,
you could never use them for anything other than setting in a display case and looking
at every once in a while, and there's nothing wrong with that at all.
Wow is the first thing that comes to mind when you look at them though, it would be
worth it if you had the time to do it. Just jealous I guess, now back to work.

That's darn impressive. I can almost see myself doing one, but I think I'd be in tears by the time I picked up the second knife to do it too.
