Anyone know of any awesome Disco deals?

#1

Post by Evil D »

First off, I'm not entirely sure if this is allowed...so if it's not, feel free to lock this down. I'm not looking to buy/sell from each other, just looking for websites that have discontinued knives for good prices...

Something I'd love to see more of is shared info on great deals out there. A while back there was a killer deal on a ZDP Delica that someone posted, and a lot of us scored an awesome knife for really cheap. With all the discontinued knives out there right now, there have to be good deals floating around.

I was thinking of maybe getting a Superleaf...I'm not completely in love with it, but I like it enough that if the price was right I'd jump on it. I'm really surprised at the prices I'm seeing on a lot of the usual websites, as they're only ~$15 cheaper than Spyderco themselves are selling them for. Considering most websites sell way below MSRP, I would expect the street price on a discoed knife to be much lower than even Spyderco's disco price.

So...what are some good deals you guys have seen out there?

Eh, they have it for $138. Spyderco has it for $150. What was the typical street price of this knife before it went disco? I would have expected it to be around $140? Surely the street price wasn't $200 before it went disco? It kinda seems like the websites haven't lowered their prices on it yet.

Sign up and you will normally get a 25% off promo daily and most orders over $75 ship free. I believe it comes to around $101 as of today.

Sierra trading does awesome coupons pretty regularly, so you can get it for quite a bit less than list price. That said, I am waiting for a coupon + free shipping before I pull the trigger.

Ahh..Didn't know you had to sign up to get it cheaper. I'll have to look into that. I really expect that Knife Outlet will eventually do one of those private sales and have them listed pretty cheap.

I'd love to find a good deal on a 154CM Manix 2...they seem nearly impossible to find. And I wa hoping to find one at a good rate when the S30V ones came out.

I must not be on Sierra's preferred list, I regularly get their emails but mine only have free shipping for orders over $100, and sometimes I've had it try to add shipping anyway even though I was over $100 (it's been awhile since I've ordered from them though).

But yeah, the trick with them is to use the link in the email they send you, otherwise the price is lot's higher. And they don't put knives under the Sporting Goods category, they put them under Outdoor Gear | Hunting Gear | Hunting Knives, if I recall correctly.
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)

Yeah, I can never get the discount codes to work either. I believe the codes do not work on already discounted / clearance items. Could be wrong though.

Cutlery Shoppe has the Chokwe, Breeden Rescue, and big Persian on close out. I got a Superleaf from them for $95 shipped before they were gone.

Help me with the math if I were to register for Sierra TP, the Urban Whanclife that is $81 would be?

Seems like I remember seeing it frequently for around $53 + shipping, though this most recent offer I received from Sierra didn't include the Urban. The sale doesn't always apply to *everything* they have in stock I guess.

You can add the word "Spyderco" to your MyUpdates at Sierra and that will e-mail you if any new ones become available. The 35% off and .99 shipping was just this weekend through Monday in the Deal Flyer e-mail I got. I try and wait for the shipping discount or it's $10 to ship.
