Quite an interesting knife. Automatic, designed at the request of the US Coast Guard to be easy to operate with gloved hands and to be rust proof. To accomplish the later, it will be the first Spyderco made in Golden to use H-1 steel. Even more interesting for those of us the Feds fear might turn into crazed anarchists, or worse, if allowed to own automatics, the amount of H-1 Spyderco has to purchase to produce this knife virtually insures we'll be seeing other, more conventional, H-1 knives stamped Golden CO, USA, Earth. :)

I haven't been a huge H1 fan thus far but the thought of some current Golden models in H1 is intriguing to say the least.

I am not a huge H-1 fan either, so I am not sure if intrigue is exactly
the word that I would use. Maybe relief, because it will be fewer knives
that I have to have.

For me, if it came in a knife i liked more like a Para 2, i may be inclined to buy one just for fishing duty or something like that. Really though, more than that if it could be done in FFG i'd learn to love it.

If we hopefully get some on US knives, I would love to see a serrated Para2 in H1.

Am sure someone will post some eventually. Unfortunately, due to a personal emergency, I didn't have a chance to take any photos at all.

Thanks for the news, Paul. I think it's likely to see an H1 slip it made in Golden. A number of European knife owners have expressed a desire for a yellow FRN version. I would be very happy to see the Native 5 Lite Weight version in H1 steel. I look forward to see what Spyderco decides to do.

Congrats to the Spyderco Crew!
Congrats to the Coasties for choosing Spyderco. Just based on my limited experience, I think this knife will serve them well. To those who fly, sail, and swim in the worst conditions to save our behinds! "Semper Paratus"

Being an old Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer, I'm really interested to see what they came up with? I remember when we went to the Benchmade AFO, worn in our lifting harness, and our biggest complaint was that it was extremely difficult to depress the button with gloves on. We were also issued Rescue Clip-its to carry in our flight suits and a lot of us would tie one off to our harness instead of the AFO. You could still deploy it with gloves and the serrations would rip through anything, wet or dry. The AFO was/is a good knife and it served me well but Alaskan water, 5mm gloves and frozen hands made it tough (not impossible) to open.

Most important, hope you're okay Paul. Then, congratulations to all at Spyderco for the award.

And then...If Spyderco has a load of H-1 lying around, maybe they'll make a sprint run of Rock Salts!

Sorry I derailed this thread a bit, I'm fine now, just a combination of unfortunate events. As for the Autonomy, only things I can add are that it had a yellow handle, probably G-10, a firing button about 3/8" in diameter that stands about 1/8 to 3/16" above the scales, and what I'd call a semi-sheepsfoot blade.
