Sage IV

Post by gull wing »

I see at Knifecenter, they suggest a mid to late January shipping. Not sure if they really know, but it seems early. Not a full year yet since the Sage III came out, I think it was summer of 2011??

Caught me off guard :eek: , looking for the "R", Para 2 Brown. Hope they don't all ship in the same week. :o

I think the Sage3 came out in Jan/Feb 2011. I'm hoping it's out before March (my birthday) :D

Think the Sage III came out just about a year ago. Can say for sure that my earliest photos of mine are dated Feb 6 2011. IIRC, it's still a shorter interval than those between 1-2 and 2-3, but not all that much shorter. Think those were like 14-15 months apart.

OK, I have pictures of mine in summer, so I thought it was a summer release. All that much better. Beautiful knife!

We just got these in. The ironwood is a different color than I first anticipated, it's darker and more red. I like it better in person than I thought I would based on the first pictures I saw.

Anyway, check out these pics.

Thanks for the updated pictures Cam! It looks nice, despite lacking the burl that the proto has.

Fantastic! That looks a lot more like what I'd expect Arizona Ironwood to look like. The catalog illustrations don't really look like ironwood to me, more like quince, locust, gum, or maple burl. Nothing wrong with any of those, mind you, but the color is very different.

Hmm...real world pics are so much nicer than the catalog ones. Might actually be the first Sage that I buy!

@Cam

P.S. I see BHQ is located in Lehi. I'll have to stop in next time I'm visiting family in Provo.

That wood does look nicer than the catalog pics. It'll be interesting to see more examples.

Deacon: I agree, when I first saw the specs on the knife I wondered why the "ironwood" was so yellow. These knives are much darker.

For those that are interested we are working on a comparison video of the Sage series that should be up later today on our Youtube channel.

@jabba359 You are always welcome to stop by our store and check out the knives! It's always easy to sneak away from family to check out knives. ;)

I really like the darker wood, but would be happy with either/both

Don't feel bad. I live 30 minutes away and I still haven't made it in. I've bought from them online, but not at the store yet!
