Rico,

Give em the whole story, dude. Lot of Rescue fans would love to know about the C14SBL, Blue Rescue 93 mm SpyderEdge; a remake of the old C14 with additional features. A crescent portion bitten from blade's spine in front of the hole gives perfect control over the blade's tip. Behind the the round hole is a row of textured serrations to position the thumb for command over the entire cutting edge.

Serious ites let we want to know!

The PE Almite Cricket is safely esconced within the vault. Thanks for the opportunity to own one of these babies and good luck on your Mission!!

Stay safe! Stay sharp! Stay informed!

Is this the real deal??? Can it be?? I have been searching for the g10 version for the longest time. I found one but it is the fully serrated one.
How much will this puppy be and what are the advatnges of g10 vs Carbon fiber and vice versa??

MSRP will be 189.95. Carbon Fiber looks dressier. I have carried both and they seem to wear evenly. Rico

Carbon Fiber is lighter then G10, but is considered "slick" compared to G10. Carbon Fiber will slide right out of your pocket, quick, giving you a fast draw. G10 may grab on the draw. Spyderco's G10 that they have used is a better G10 then some other knife makers use. Or they use a different finish. Either way I've always liked Spydie G10 better.
I believe the G10 Police weighs 3.4 oz, my Ti-Police weighs 4.4 oz, so I'm hoping the carbon fiber Police weighs under 2.9 oz. Lightweight with a nice sized blade. Sweeeet!!

I should point out that this isn't an inherent property of the materials, but goes to how they are used. CF is usually polished to show the weave pattern, while G10 is beadblasted to raise the cloth texture in relief.

However, you can sandblast CF, and you can polish G10. It just isn't the common usage.

How very true Carlos.

There are companies that have used polished G-10 very well I think (Kershaw Ken Onion series).

There are companies that have used matte-finished (not sandblasted) Carbon Fiber very well (Microtech LCC).

Hopefully, Spyderco could consider a CF finish other than polished (I believe Sal once said it was water-jet cut). Klotzli uses this same process (as does SOG on their JetEdge knives). I have always found it objectionable.

Any reasons that a matte-finish CF has not been used?

My take is, why make matte-finished CF when bead-blasted G-10 lasts longer for hard use knives, and bead-blasted Micarta is cheaper for gentleman's knives. Bead-blasted CF would lose the fiber pattern look and wouldn't gain anything that couldn't be done cheaper and better with another epoxy composite.

Well a "tacky" feel carbon fiber would be nice. The CF Civilian had a "slick" feel compared to G10. That's where my opinion came from on the CF/G10.

A CF Police with the same finish as the CF Civilian is fine with me. It seems as though the graphite weave is sealed with a clear coat. Imo, I think that the CF handled Civilian would feel better as an EDC than the G10 version. (If I were to carry the Civilian daily). Would make my pockets last longer, too.

The CF finish on the MT LCC somehow make it seem like I'm touching pencil lead (but that's just me). It is an otherwise satifactory finish but I wouldn't want to see it on the Police.
