Barong Sprint?

#1

Post by chuck_roxas45 »

Anybody want a barong sprint with some nice steel like XHP? I'll take that in any color G10 but pink. :D

Edit: Seems to be a Seki knife, so I guess the XHP is out. Nice imagery while it lasted. :p

I would love to see the barong and khukuri come back in a super-sized form. The traditional knives these were patterned after were big fixed blades, so it only seems appropriate to bring them back bigger and better as 4" to 5" folders.
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Weren't they expensive before? Putting them in a super steel would kill me :(

Well, I've never seen a Sprint come so soon after the "death" of a Spydie before, but I would like a Barong II Sprint. I say version 2 because that big ricasso has to go. I think the huge ricasso and Foliage Green did the first Barong in. I think a polished G-10 would be cool too.

+1 on BarongII
I like you vision of Barong much more then original. Huge ricasso and FG were absolutely no for me. Polished black/dark green g10 (please, no grey), normal size choil and I am in

I'd likely skip a Barong sprint (because I already have an original), but a redesigned Barong 2? I'd definitely be interested!

YES.

Agree with others about eliminating the huge ricasso on the Barong.

CF scales like the Manix II, or G10 scales in black/earth brown/dark green.

On this page there is (I think) modified black G10 Barong without the huge ricasso! I'm pretty sure that this knife would be a great success!
I would like mine in really dark OD green...

HunterRyngo - the one in your photo is a Sage.

It's about time I post this picture again, my precious :) Barong with custom Krien Grind and deep pocket clip.

Note: I like the deep pocket clip, but the styling doesn't quite complement the gracious curves of the Barong. Hoping to find something more suitable in the near future.

Beautiful knife!

(I know that the first picture is a sage... ;) Scroll down a bit...
The one I mentioned is just like yours, but with black scales and standard clip!)

Ahhh HunterRyngo...I see now :) That's a beautiful rendition. I like the subtle angled ricasso. Did the poster do the work himself?

I don't know, but whoever the bladesmith was did a great job!

I'd love to hear Sal's opinion on this whole Barong 2 idea...
(or of course Mr. Schempp's opinion, but I don't think that he uses this forum)

Anyway this design with a dark green colored micarta/G10 would be awesome!

The only problem I see is Mr. Schempp love to use a big choil on his designs or with the Barong a huge ricasso... so I'm not 100% sure he'd give his name to this project.

Then I hope he'll read this thread and tell us what he thinks about our little brainstorming on one of his masterpiece. :spyder:

That's my Barong and Khukuri up there :)

It got it in a trade and was said to be reground by Nick Rossi. I'm tempted to get the Khukuri redone also, but I am unsure how I will like it.

Regarding a Barong sprint, while I think it was probably too recently discontinued to be considered right now, I missed out on getting an original and wouldn't mind having the chance to get a sprint at a decent price.

Ahh, I had wondered if that was a Rossi regrind. I've thought about having him work his magic on my Navaja. Welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy your stay here!
