Spyders you would like to see in a larger scale

#1

Post by JD Spydo »

I have said several times in the past how nice it would be to see some of the great Spyderco models in a larger scale. For instance I think the Dodo model with a larger, longer, wider blade in a bigger scale all together would be super.

But I could think of several Spyders I would love to see offered up in a larger size, longer blade length or even a bigger handle. But so far the Dodo is one that I think would benefit greatly if it were made larger.

Or for that matter what about a Kiwi or Kopa in a bigger scale?

What models you all like to see larger?

I'm thinking Superleaf right off. Make it a 4 inch blade.

A Mule type blank - temperence 2 sized or larger.

A bigger military, the resilience is larger than the millie isnt it?

How about a large, fixed blade version of a Civilian? Id buy 10.

Also Id love to see a super sized Spyderhawk, just stupid huge. :p

I could also see room for a larger Gayle Bradley, perhaps a fixed blade version. :D :D :D

I first suggested a larger Kiwi about seven years ago and I still would like to see one.

As for the Kopa, while each has it's own unique characteristics, I'd say the Chaparral, Caly 3, Caly 3.5, and the (hopefully) upcoming Sage IV could all be considered larger versions of it.

OH Yeaaaah!

I'm thinking Superleaf, Junior Dialex, Spyderhawk, and the Military.

I would also agree with what DCDesigns said, "How about a large, fixed blade version of a Civilian? Id buy 10."

Junior, caly 4.5, barong, khurki and GB should all be made in the 4"+ range please!
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

I would like to see the C95 bigger. :p

Honestly, like the Caly 3.5 is, I would like to see just how much blade they can fit in the Military handle. I would like to see a 3.75" Caly and Stretch.

+1 on the Superleaf. 3.5" or 4" would be nice.

Bigger Kopa for me would be Caly3 with bolsters. I would love to see this knife and certainly will buy more than one.
Would love to see 3-3.5" bladed Jester, please add liners and micarta scales (polished G10 is fine).

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

The Leaf Storm could benefit from being stretched in the blade and handle. That would allow for a more comfortable grip, IMO. I'm pretty much satisfied with most other Spydies as they are. Anything much bigger than a Military isn't too useful to me.

How about in a "smaller" scale ? I'd love a smaller and more pocket-friendly Manix 2 , Para Military 2 and Super Leaf. The Native5 is currently my favorite EDC and it's the perfect size for me. It packs maximum heft in a compact package that rests in my pocket nicely and discreetly.

Streetbeat---outdoor version. 4inch blade, beefy grind, fatty handle slab, leather.

I love the Kiwi and Kopa's size, their small package was their main attraction.
The SS Kiwi is the best(thickness), I would like a Kopa also in SS or more slim handle.
...or a keychain size Kiwi would be great too.

A Bigger Dyad

Well Brother we just seem to be on the same page more and more :D Oh how I would just love a C-44 Dyad the same scale as the Bison which is a big prototype folder that Spyderco has held back for some time now. If the C-44 Dyad were even 25% to 40% larger in scale it would be a seaman's and outdoorsman's dream blade.

And for my fellow Missourian pal BAL I do agree that a larger Spyderhawk would really take the cake  The Spyderhawk is now a great aggressive Hawkbill but a larger one would even be better for many jobs especially for commercial fishermen and other tradesmen.

Bigger Balance Please!

How about the Balance!
There seems to be a lot of people withholding on the Balance, because of its size. It's like they are not getting their Moneys worth with this expensive design. Dont get Me wrong, I Love it, though I also feel that it could be scaled up a bit to make it perfect. I have large hands, and scaling it up would help!

I'd go for a larger superleaf and i'd like a larger para too. A larger manix and a larger spyderhawk would also be definite buys for me. I say bring back the original calypso or a bigger bladed one sprint new model whatever i want one. 4 to 5 inch blade folders. Lets supersize our steel.
