I'm still looking for a list of victims at the World Trade Center outside of those law enforcement and fire fighting personnel listed by Jim. Having not found it, yet, here's a link for 911 Heroes that lists everyone, which no doubt includes those in Jim's list. I didn't want to leave anyone out. :(

Again, let us remember those we've lost and those who continue to sacrifice their lives for our freedom.

One more name, if you will. Jeff Simpson, a fireman-paramedic for Virginia's Dumfries Triangle Volunteer Fire Department. Jeff's "day job" was as Oracle Software consultant to the Office of the New York State Attorney General and he was working that day at our 120 Broadway office. Instead of heading for home when the office was evacuated, Jeff headed for the World Trade Center to help.

I'm watching 102 minutes that changed America. Every time I see the face of a fire fighter, police officer or some other first responder I can't help but wonder "did he survive?".

It's painful to remember but it will be a tragedy if we forget.

I read each and every name out loud and then said a prayer...and sent prayers to my friends who worked in the towers and their families...It's been so long but I still can't bring myself to visit ground zero...It hurts to much...Never Forget! Doc

I wonder that very same thing. Unfortunately, I fear many did not.

Thanks, Water Bug and others for providing more names. There are so many names. Too many. All those good people.

My understanding is that the events of 9/11 started the events that we now see overseas. Can we remember them also? I don't know any names.

This site has been up for about 9 yrs, and still moves me to tears when I watch it. I can't hear that song without remembering that day.

A few things I learn yesterday about the 9/11 attacks...

According to one of the History Channel programs there is a possibility that terrorist were on a fifth plane (United 23 out of Newark). After being advised of potential hijacking and the first plane hitting the WTC the pilot made the decision not to take off and returned to the gate announcing mechanical problems. Three irate passengers first refused to get off the plane and went security was called got off the plane and never retrieved their luggage. Inside the luggage was a Quran and Al Qaeda training manual. It turns out the names were aliases.

Approximately forty people died in the Marriott Hotel that was located at the base and between the Twin Towers. The hotel was severely crush and nearly split in half when the towers collapsed but fourteen people survived in an area that had been reinforced due to damage done to it in the 1994 bombing of the Trade Center.

There were approximately 4500 aircraft in U.S. or near airspace when the call went out to ground all civilian aircraft. Somehow ATC got all of these aircraft on the ground in two hours without any accidents, an amazing feat of logistics by air traffic controls.
