I have mixed feelings about asking that much for that particular knife.
Granted, it is a highly rare knife but I have to question whether the engraving and the number is stock or not. I guess it would have to be just the right person to come along and be willing to pay that kind of money for it.

The seller says it is one of a kind yet it has the serial number 036 stamped on it. So that would mean that there are more of these floating around somewhere. $3K is way too much to ask for this knife. Like he says in his description, if you are insane and have too much money then you can buy it. Well, that leaves me out, at least money wise.
It's better to have knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it.

I agree!!scolby wrote:The price is pure silliness.
I think this guy is just out fishing.... kind of like putting a "For Sale" sign with a really high price on your vehicle that you don't really want to sell, while it sits outside in the parking lot at your place of employment. Sure, if it fetches a high enough price, you'll sell it.
But really, I kind of think that is what this seller is doing. He even states that his price is outrageous and that if you have more money than sense, it's a good catch. And, unfortunately, some people really do have more money than common sense.

Hi Guyz,
So this is where you have been hiding :) I've been out of action for a few months dealing with a military service related disability, but I'm back to bring joy to all my fellow collectors hearts :spyder:
Hope everyone is doing better then me, I opened a Spydie store on ebay to return a couple rare spydies to the collector community. I might expand it to carry the full line depending on how things go. Its good to be back and hi to everyone I don't know, and to several friends who I've missed very much :)
Have a good one!
David

You know I have one of the old two screw workers from the mid to late 80's and the only thing different is that engraving. I worked at SFO for about 6 months and made myself a couple of knives with "special" engraving before they got ride of the diamond dragger. I have a police that says "Seal Team 3" with logo, a police that I customized and put "Spyderco R & D logo" in gold plated inlay and things of that nature. I've never seen one of these, but the Co-pilot he listed helps me to get a little closer on who made my worker...It looks similar to his blue mountain model. I'm not saying it is not an original item, but the first ones Sal will tell you he sold at conventions and I doubt they were numbered...I suspect this is the first production run of the worked that was mas marketed.
...oh you know why!
