from the photos i've seen,i thought "hey, here is a small, slim kerambit that should be fund to play with", so i placed an order. after getting it, oh boy was i wrong about the size.

anyone has similar exp. or am i all alone out there. now I need to get rid of the kerambit and try something else. good thing i had a good idea about the chinook 2, man that thing is a beast.

H seeker: Kerambit's Details;
Blade Steel VG-10
Blade Thickness 3/32" 2.5mm
Clip Stainless Steel
Diam. Blade Hole 1/2" 13mm
Edge Type PlainEdge
Handle Material Stainless Steel
Hardness 59-60
Length Closed 5 1/16" 128mm
Length Cutting Edge 1 13/16" 47m
Length Overall 5" 127mm
Weight 5.1oz 145g
Spyderco spec's above, remember for next time length closed of 5+ inches is big by your standards.
note the discrepancy of overall length and length closed. I also have this model due to the Collectors Club requirements of purchasing all new models. I don't care for the design due to a lack of knife functional traits. Someone will want to purchase it from you, but it won't be me. Happy trading

I said the same thing today to my local dealer. But it was about how big the assist and salsa were, and how small the Lum Chinese folder and Tanto folder seemed to be. I could use almost a double size of both the lum folder's.

charlie:

thanks, you are so wise to be able to find and post the spec because that is something i wouldn't have dreamt of. I guess I had better be giving up the Cuda maxx in my pocket or the cold steel vaquero grande i alternate it with because "anything over 5 is too big for my standard". and have i mentioned my gratitude for setting a standard for me so I won't forget the next time?

oh, yeah, that's sarcasm if you happened to miss it.

my post is asking if anyone thought from the photos that the kerambit was a certain size and when received the actual thing it turned out their preconceived notion was wrong. Thanks for replying even though you had nothing useful to contribute.

lastly, even if you were to buy from me, don't think i'd sell it to you.

Yeah -- I envisioned the kerambit being smaller, too. I realized how much bigger it was when I read a review on someone's personal website (sorry -- don't remember who's <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> they posted it in this forum though) They did have pics that showed me just how big it was!

However, I will probably get one anyway -- I'll find use for it!

Well guys ... I like mine ... Let's keep in mind that this is a "fighting" or self-defense knife. Nothing more. The discusson on BF about cutting boxes .... Not .. spend less and cut boxes with ANYTHING ELSE. please ..

Here's my take on the knife. In either standard or reverse grip, that big handle affords a pointy "brass knuckle" on the end that you could use in leiu of the blade in a fight. Fighting isn't my thing, but when you hold this knife in either position, you can see what the possibilities are.

The pinky hole is formed out of the scales and thus it's hollow and affords an excellent grip on your finger. The edges of the hole are carefully done so that they're just .... grippy enough without wearing on your finger. It's not going to slip ...

I did think the blade would be bigger, but the more I handled it and worked it, I realized that with a bigger blade, it would potentially negate the effectiveness of the back end of the handle. "Sides" .... With everybody chasing the Gunting for a fighting or self-defense knife and paying major money, the Karambit may become the undervalued self-defense buy of the year...

Guys: thank you. Now I don't feel so alone. I have to admit though, that though it is bigger (or rather, wider) than I'd anticipated, it's growing on me. now i need to figure out how i can open it quickly in the reverse grip.

Can't wait for the spyderfly to come out...

yeah, I was actually surprised when I saw it.

I may have been the one mentioned as posting a <a href="http://www.spyderco.com/forum/topic.asp ... >review</a>.

good grief...

I kept getting a SQL error and didn't think I was getting anything posted. My browser must have cached that error page and I didn't think to check the forum to see if it was posted.

Sorry for wasting space.
