And ANOTHER O/T--Ever want to....

just quit your job and go back to a previous trade/job that you were doing before?

A little over a year ago, I gave up the sound of 18 wheels rolling under me for a more 'professional' and stable trade....welding. Well, here I am, a fully certified welder with the company, and I've HAD it!! I've come to find that welding just isn't for me and that the road is calling out to me again..... Not to mention that I've received word, from a VERY reliable source, that some layoffs are coming our way.

I see a new job in my very near future....

(Sorry about the rant, I just had to let it out of my system. )

KBR, it's cool to rant, man. Trust me, I know about job frustration!

Hope everything works out for you. I'm sure it will, as I believe everything happens for a reason.

The only bummer thing with the truckin' business is that it puts you away from the family.

You gotta balance what makes you happy with what makes you $$$. But I guess that's what life is all about. That and collecting!
I'd love to quit my job but raising kids full time is hard to quit.

Ain't that the truth, CIVILIAN. I really like the freedom of driving out on the open road and it's possible to make good money, but like Ken said, being away from the family is rough too.

Do I miss OTR trucking? just everytime I see the interstate and smell desiel fuel if my back would let me I'd be in a KW by morning headed west.
I still get to haul a few cows around the SE for a local farm dealer, usually never over 500 miles tho.
Not the 3000 or so I used to do a week hauling HAZMAT stuff but with cows I don't get too many tailgating 4wheelers .
Just if you go to work for those slow orange guys Mario stay in the right lane please Ron
