The Persian Army
It is a bit different and quite a cool alternative to the black micarta & s/s bolsters. It reminds me a lot of the FG Military with a scimitar blade on it. Or a "Persianised Military" :D
I've also wondered if we could have a Persian FB :p anyone ???

Guys, it's every bit as good as it looks. It weighs next to nothing but still has all the form, ergos and function we know and love from it's beefier predecessor. I especially love the color. Man oh man, if Spyderco could do this as a sprint run, I believe it would truly be a Big Persian for the masses. People would be more apt to actually use the heck out of this knife rather than save it for special dress up occasions. The C83 has taken a solid place in my top 3 knives (along with the Millie and Kris) and I am so glad I have two different iterations to choose from for my EDC!

I would say it is extremely safe. Not only does it have a Boye dent in the lock release, but the lock release itself is much lower in profile than all other Spydies I know of. Besides that, I find myself never gripping the knife there with my thumb - it's too far back to offer a stable, comfortable grip. Instead, my thumb always seems to find it's way to the area just in front of the little hump forward of the lock release - kind of a choil on top of the handle. The Kris is IMO the single most ergonomically friendly folder I have ever handled. Just a true joy to handle and use.graf_zero wrote:I have question about Kriss.
Isn't thumb laying exactly on the lock release in basic "saber" grip?
Is it safe?

Ok, I thought that kris would be designed properly. I just wasn't sure where thumb should be placed from looking on the pictures.Billy wrote:I would say it is extremely safe. C'mon guys... I'm still recruiting for the Persian Army.
Keep posting them pics. No matter if you think they are fantastic nor ordinary, we need the Army to prepare for battle :D
All Persians welcome... Large and Mini.

Heheh Sverre,
It's the Australian compliant barrel (120mm) and makes it loko a bit fugly, but at least compliant for our sport shooting requirements. Unfortunately we are not allowed suppressors else the photo show the snub to be threaded a long time ago :p
Back to Persians... that one is still being carried on a regular (almost every day) basis.

Very nice Paul :) I've always admired this one and I missed out on a Hawley exactly like this in an eBay auction earlier this year around Feb IIRC?
In the meantime I must *** that one of my Persian EDC's got fearfully abused today in taking down some small woody rose bushes. Highly unrecommended act of cruelty to the Persian but it surprisingly took to the abuse with great gusto. It managed to down all of them quartered and ready for the recycling bin !
I was too lazy to walk to the garage for a more appropriate tool which would've done the job in 5 minutes - I wanted to see what I could do with the knife I had in my pocket at the time..... lo and behold it was a Persian (surprise surprise :D )
Here are some not so nice pics from my phone camera...
The Persian took to bashing quite well. The weight of th knife lent to it being good enough to repeatedly whack down hard on the shrubs in a fairly traditional chopping method (cutting in a V-shape up and down. I'm sure it's not good for the lock :p Will need to clean her up and sharpen as well tomorrow :D
