Be careful what you wish for because its all in the details next thing you know you will end up with bath salts or something... :winking-tongue
Great picture by the way. :grin-smiling-eyes

Today my old, trusty VG10 Endura.

Though practically speaking textured FRN for me is an even better handle material, I love how these Micarta scales feel in hand.

I am actually thinking about putting these scales on my HAP40 Endura.
The scratched up (on the SUS410 part) resp. "patina-ed" blade (on the HAP40 part) blade of that one would certainly look great paired with Micarta scales... :smirk

Image
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I’d agree! Great looking handle scales you got there!

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Agreed and that’s a great looking mod (at least I think it’s a mod) 🤔
Thanks! Yes. I rounded the hump for the thumb hole, crowned the spine, chamfered the thumb hole, and deleted the nub at the bottom of the finger groove. The Sage 5 is one of the few where that nub is all scale (no liner protrusion) so it's easy.

This is one where I worked as I went over time and it's a little messy in places. If they ever do a Sage 5 in a more attractive stainless like MagnaCut, S45VN, Elmax, etc.; I'll have an excuse to go again and I'll be ready to do it right from the beginning. The recent exclusive in M4 at least has me hopeful.

Ha! Never thought about bath salts…I’d have to re-gift those but I’d get some brownie points out of it 😉
