It’s all Bloke’s fault

I got one of these pre-Bloke to replace a cheap combo edge keychain knife that was ground so thick it was more like a pointy pry bar. I don’t think I actually NEED any other knives but I still manage to have like 2-3 more around at any given time.

It will cut anything that needs cutting.

The fact that you tell us what you use it for, how well it cuts, and show pictures, makes us want one. Great endorsement, if you ask me. Plus, could it be any cuter?

In all fairness though, it was Killer or D (?), early in my time here who pricked my interest in the little knife when he called it a little chain saw.

I liked it from the minute I handled it and was amazed at its cutting power but it eventually lost it’s edge and started tearing rather than cutting. I’d never sharpened a SE before and was apprehensive about trying to sharpen it and possibly wrecking it altogether and just about stopped using it. After seeing D and Vivi sharpen SE I took the plunge myself and once I got the hang of it the love affair with the little knife, SE’s and HB’s in general blossomed . :D

Yep, I detested serrated knives until I learned how to get them extremely sharp. Now, I always have a Pacific SE in my back pocket. Sometimes, even three SE knives on me at one time.

This is not a knock against this knife at all, but mine has become my 'beater' knife. If anything it's a compliment, an inexpensive knife that can take a full work day's abuse. I use it to cut twist ties that I dont want to notch my other blades with, it also cuts tape like a champ. This pic was after 100+ boxes opened :D

Not to derail, but how would the hb ladybug compare to the manbug salt? Been looking for a keychain knife, even though I don’t carry keys anymore . I have been planning to get the manbug for the longest time, but a certain little hawksbill keeps popping up and I keep stalling.

Well,the Manbug Salt has no point to pierce. The Ladybug Salt Hawk does.

I don’t have a Manbug Salt though I’m sure it would make for a great little utility knife.

Though, as Doc said it doesn’t have a point so for one, it won’t double as a fork for example, in a pinch. Just as importantly, for me at least, it doesn’t have a plain edge section at all which although quite a short in the HB, it does come in very handy.

One of the many attributes of the little HB is it won’t be beaten at popping cable zip ties either. Over all I think the little HB is the most versatile of the two knives. :)

Yeah when I include the bug that is on my keychain, I often carry four :spyder: outsides... :p

Plus sometimes my SOG MT :)

I have both, bought the Manbug before finding this forum, and I never use it. In contrast the Ladybug is one of my most used knives.

The Ladybug aside from the very useful hawkbill, has thinner blade stock and slices better too.

I like the Manbug Salt, and have been considering one. I have a regular Manbug, and use it less than the little Ladyhawk too.

I like the sounds of a serrated wharnie manbug. I don’t think I would get a HB manbug with the Ladybug already in hand. Not enough to differentiate them IMO.

I'm a sucker for Wharnies and with Ladybug Hawkbill already filling the small Hawkbill role nicely I think the Wharnie makes more sense. Keep it thin BTE and I'm in for sure.

I’d take a PE and SE of this. :o Sorry I keep posting this pic, but I’d be all over it, and enjoy using it, plain and serrated, with a wee bit of plain edge at the tip of the serrated.



The Hawkbill would be nice too.
