SpyderThrowers ETA?
Re: SpyderThrowers ETA?
I look forward to getting a set of these and doing a little set up in the backyard. I have a friend that throws knives and he says it’s a great stress reliever.

I am curious what the sheaths look like. I cannot find a pic of them. I am looking forward to these. I spent some time throwing tomahawks this weekend and have the fever. :D

Darby, check ramzar’s list of delivered knives. He posted a pic of the sheath. Looks to have three separate slots for the three throwers. Looks pretty good. Wasn’t planning on getting these, but I could throw in the back yard.bearfacedkiller wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:39 amI am curious what the sheaths look like. I cannot find a pic of them. Re: SpyderThrowers ETA?
Large throwers have arrived.
Beefy and balanced.
Well-crafted; design of course is unlike your other Spydercos.
Pics tomorrow, or maybe some late night indoor shots, we'll see after (late) dinner.
The large ones are *heavy*; I can foresee accidents for some folks. Do Not Drop!, and do not let them get away from you on release.

Re: SpyderThrowers ETA?
Quick shots of the large thrower
Individually double-sleeved knives plus the thick sheath really fill the box.
side view of the sheath:
back of the sheath, with belt loop:
three blade pockets, and stitching; appears to be waxed stitching. The sheath is well-crafted and finished, and appears so similar as to be made by the same maker of the Mule sheaths.
For size reference, here it is with the Polestar and Cricket, which I am carrying today. (I added the Chaparral because I suppose not as many readers may have the PS and Cricket.)
Another view, cuz the Cricket really is a sweet little knife, with this perspective to show it is a Big little knife:
side b:
Approximate balance point:
handle and holes. The finish texture makes for secure grasp yet controlled release.
shoulder:
sharpened tip. The blade flats are far enough forward for a secure tip-grasp and release. The distal edges are sharpened to "Stick-in-wood" sharpness, less likely to inadvertenly cut the user when handling for a tip-throw. The blackened and unsharpened edge portions are not a cutting risk per se, but I wouldn't want one to land on edge on a flip-flopped foot.
I did some backyard test throws, but for now I'll leave throwing reviews and recs to the throngs of youtubers.
Bloke's gif is a perfect example of Conservation of Momentum force vector sums waiting to put out your eye.
good luck.
kind regards,

Ah, hahaha! I think I googled Knife Throwing Fails, though I can"t rightly remember but it took a while to find. :rolleyes:nicked.onaut wrote: ↑Thu Apr 26, 2018 1:46 pmHaha, too funny (though no joke)
How'd you find that perfectly appropriate GIF?
(googles "knife conservation of momentum")
thanks for that
I'm pretty sure it's actual footage of Surfingringo practising while he waits for his Spyder throwers to arrive. :p

I'm thinking about buying a couple sets and using 'em for lawn darts. I used to love playing Jarts when I was a kid! "Fun for the whole family!"

Re: SpyderThrowers ETA?
Bump to find out whatever happened with these? (Also to relive the gif hilarity) Obviously some QC issue was identified, but I am not sure I ever got the story on whats up. I hope this project doesn't get left behind...

I'm with you on this. Any word?KnickKnackCity wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 1:49 pmBump to find out whatever happened with these? (Also to relive the gif hilarity) Obviously some QC issue was identified, but I am not sure I ever got the story on whats up. I hope this project doesn't get left behind...
I collect them all, and use them all! I use the excuse, "I'm trying to find the perfect one", but in reality, they are all perfect in their own way!
