would love to see someone poke a SpyOpera, I've heard horror stories about Lionsteel's heat treatment...

Here are the results of 48 knives I had tested for Rockwell hardness. Some were poked once, some 3x but I'm listing the overall average in order of softest to the hardest. In my pocket there is a rex45 pm2 that tested 66 from previous owner. So 49 in total.
Who did the testing out of curiosity?

Kurt did the testing.

For what it is worth, SteveMidwest reported 64.2 HRC for his K2 10V.

I just got a Delica k390. The results were a bit surprising. It was poked twice, with the results of 66.4 and 66.5 HRC

Wow! That's significantly harder than other k390 Spyderco has put out. I'm curious to see how people like it.

66 HRC, that’s tempting. I thought I was done.

I am also curious. If these results are accurate, it makes me wonder about the heat treatment and toughness. I believe the previous K390 results were about 65 HRC, which is more in-line with Bohler data sheet.

I will definitely be using and testing it this week. I may have one of the other guys re check it to make sure.I have had 2 different police 4s and one was right at 66 and the other 64.2. Most of the Police 4s were right in the 65 range from what I have seen. The PM2 I had in k390 was 63 something, which seems to be standard for that batch.

Don't know how I forgot Larrin's excellent article on H-1. In the article he had a Spyderco Salt measured and found it to vary from about 55-57 HRC. Might want to add that to the list.
Bump. I think this is important information.

From Larrin's website:
I was sent an analysis of H1 in a Spyderco Salt by Sandvik. They did not find an increase in hardness at the edge, in fact they found a decrease. The plot below is what I was sent, where the value at about 55 Rc was 0.4 mm (0.16″) from the edge. Unfortunately I was not provided an x-asis to see the distances between the measurements. However, the ~57 Rc of the steel is comparable to the value reported above from Crucible.

This is an excellent effort, but I do not think that it is up to date. Is the current up to date spreadsheet?

That's the 'official' spreadsheet for the group centered around the HRC testing efforts of Kurt (jcoolG19). The table is periodically updated, but the spreadsheet lags behind the testing by some number of months. I'm not sure, but I think LTK may maintain the spreadsheet.

Good stuff.

Are you getting any readings for the rest of the current K390 Seki series, besides the Delica?

I plan on getting the k390 endura when it is released. I may get the k390 endela as well. I am going to test everything I get now, so I will keep posting them as I get them.

Great, thanks for your contributions. :)

It would be interesting to eventually have data points for the whole array of different sized blades in a Seki release in a single steel grade. I wonder if there is much difference between the smaller blades like the Manbug and Dragonfly, compared to, say, the Endura, Stretch and Police?
