Kershaw 1860 Piston 1870 Knockout

Does anyone have experience with these two knives.I have these on order and can't wait for them to get here

I don't have any experience with those two, but I have some experience with Kershaw knives in general. I really like some of their knives, and have gifted a Clash to my brother for EDC, but I don't carry any myself, but they're decent knives. My old man has one of their fixed blades that he swears by for camping and fishing purposes, but I always opt for a an H1 spydie for that.

I used to own a Knockout and I currently own a Piston. They are both great knives.

I'm trying to see if there is anything that can push the Caly 3.5 from my pocket. After I try these two I already have my eye on the Extrema Ratio BF 1 Desert Warfare which looks like the perfect knife also.

I have both.

The Knockout I have is the first generation with the thin G10 handle scales. They went with aluminum after these.

I find the handle to be too thin, I do like the blade shape though.

I really like the Piston. The handle feels really good. Mine has a weaker spring-opening action then the other assisted-openers that I have.

I find it best to use the flipper-tab on both of them. I haven't been able to get the hang of opening either with the thumb studs.
My favorite Spyderco knives include: Caly 3.5, Chaparral, Delica 4 FFG, Stretch, Para-Military 2, Endura 4 FFG, Manix 2 & Manix 2 XL!

I'm not a real big fan of thumb studs either. That's one of the reasons I'm such a big fan of Spydercos

I'm afraid at least for the time being the 1870 knock out has knocked the Caly out of my pocket and I have the Piston on order

The 1870 Knockout is the better of these two and I highly recommend that everyone reading this try one in Olive handle and Black blade

The flipper and assisted opening on the 1870 Knockout make it just like an auto. And with Aircraft grade aluminum handle and 12c28n steel which some prefer over VG 10 or S30V you have an extremely nice knife for around sixty dollars. The 12c28n is razor steel so unlike some steels that chip when you get down to a thin fine edge the 12c28n allows you to achieve an edge just like a straight razor
