working spydies

Hey everybody, what do you use your spydie for? (in other words does it actually work or does it stay in your pocket)

Hi Spydie-man,

Good topic-
I don't have many spydies (2). So I can say that they do work...The first is the endura, it is a work horse. I don't think you could break it! Cutting, scraping, prying, things you shouldn't do but I got it to use it...getting tired of it and need to try a new one. The other is a Bill Moran, good camp knife and will cut up game real good...

Have a good/safe holiday,
ken

I do have a few Spydies (almost 20) but my very EDC is my SE VG-10 Delica. I use it for everything: cutting paper, cardboard, wire, wood, food preparation and whatever occurs. All my other Spydies work fine, but I just got stuck with this one I was dreaming for a SE Delica for such a long time and when I finally got it...

Aloha! I have many Spyders...But like Dialex, I carry my CE delica the most for evryday use. Close second goes to my CE Endura.
I also carry a Rescue Jr. at work, a Cricket in my fanny bag,(soon to be replaced by a Toad) and of course there's a CE Ladybug on my keychain! Sometimes for a "change of Carry", I'll put my SS PE Calypso jr. in my pocket.
Basically, these are my "using" knives.

God will put you over...if you let Him!

A CE Native is my most used tool next to a rake and shovel at work.

The Native helps me feed and care (open bales of hay, straw, cut up food items, etc.) for the animals I'm responsible for. The rake and shovel help me clean up after them...

Have over 20, still carry the basics.

Endura on left side... frn/ats-55/se, 98 model
Military(440v, ce, 02 model) or Calypso Jr(frn/vg-10/pe, 01 model) on right

had the ss 'fly on me 24/7 until I fired it off to eric, still waiting on it(and my fb05).

I (ab)use my PE & SE G-10 Standard the most. Most for D-I-Y chores around the house.

I have over 20. The ones that work hard for their keep are: a se cf cricket that is in fulltime employment as a moneyclip, box and letter opener, general knifely duties and last night was called into service as a pineapple filleter when restaurant cutlery was not up to the task. The other is a co-pilot that has to do all the above plus heavier work when I'm in the mountains at the week-end. I have lots of other knives but spyders are the ones I reach for when I NEED a knife. I do not usually carry a big folder as I find a small knife is easier on my pocket and will complete 99% of the cutting tasks I require. The remaining 1% are nearly always better completed by an axe or a machetè.

For work, my Spydie of choice is my FRN Endura CE(sometimes SE). I use it to cut everything from duct tape and cardboard to manila rope and rubber hose. IMO, you won't find any other knife that can take a beating like this Spydie, except for the Buck 110(which I also carry for work).

I carry my Military CE, w/custom sheath by Vess, and SS Cricket SE for non-work, which I use to cut open packages/food wrappers, tape, and whatever other cutting chore may come up. Of the two, my SS Cricket probably sees the majority of these tasks.

My EDCs are a pe FRN Delica, SE SS Delica and a PE Native. This is a bit more than I need really as most of my cutting is fairly light work such as collapsing /opening boxes, cutting packaging etc. Every so often I have to do some fairly heavy duty cutting to make bits of equipment (Thick PP, aluminum sheet etc) so it pays to have the extra cutters available.

Cool, looks like the endura is the work horse. I too use it and Ken I actually broke mine from the lock, cutting a rope. I should be getting it back from spyderco anyday now.Atleast I'm hoping!

For work, I carry a Spyderench and D'Allara. The'Rench gets most of the mundane cutting chores.

For play, I carry either a Harpy or Dodo for utility cutting, and the D'Allara (again) just kind of rides along for really BIG jobs.

I am what I am, and that's all that I am. Popeye
