Idea for another wharncliffe

#1

Post by bd51 »

I think it would be great if spyderco would start making a centofante 4 type knife again. I have been searching for an affordable, lefty friendly wharncliffe and I love the centofante 4. But there are 2 problems; no reversible pocket clip, and it is discontinued.

I know the yojimbo 2 is coming out but I think it is going to be around $1oo and I would like a more affordable knife. I also like the blade shape on the centofante much more than the yojimbo due to the swedge like the chris reeve insingo blades.

I think spyderco would fill a gap in the market by making a knife like this, and I know I would certainly buy one.

What do you guys think?

To me, if Spyderco wanted to do a full ambi wharncliffe the most obvious platform for it would be the 79mm Rescue/Saver Salt handle. It already holds a straight edged blade, so all it would need is an new spine profile and a PE grind, preferably full flat. Recycling an existing unlined FRN handle would keep the cost down.

I think it's a great idea. :D Until then, you could do this...

I like the Cento's handle better, but this one was inspired by Deacon's custom job.

- best wishes, Jazz.

I like those mods. I might take advantage of CS's sale on the Rescue.

This one makes a GREAT all-around user due to the 25%-75% PE/SE ratio!
