Picture request for sal
if it's possible, could you post the picture of the native5? especially if there is currently a TI model
It's not very likely for Sal to just give us random peeks on upcoming models.
That's what catalogs and knife shows are for.
The NativeV G10 version can be seen in the 2011 online catalog.
The titanium version can be seen in this video at around 14:50. :)

It is probably just not anodized. Have you seen the 4sevens Titanium lights?
Check out the enlarged on this link: http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php ... ts_id=2478
The two Titanium scaled Spydercos I own have some sort of finish/texture applied to them. It would be nice to see some real macro pics of a worn Titanium scale to see what is beneath the scratches.
Also, it would be interesting to see if anyone had tried to brush the finish or polish it.

Ti ATR looks "silver" too. If it weren't for the different number of indexing holes in the side, it would be hard to tell whether an ATR in a photo was ti or SS.

Ti, Al, and steel are all metal, the main feature found in all metal elements and alloys is the metallic gloss. (Even the highly reactive metal elements (Li, Na) that pretty much explode in contact with water and are soft enough to be cut with a butterknife have this gloss when they are pure.)Evil D wrote:Huh....i was under the impression that Ti was actually a light gray color since that's what you usually see it in. I used to have a lot of bmx parts that were Ti and they were always the same color.
Ti is no different, it just often finished/left unfinished. Steel parts are often polished to improve their corrosion resistance (smooth surface=less actual surface=less rust), Ti doesn't have this problem so it is sometimes left unfinished, on knives the common matte finish is used since it often feels better in hand than a polished/satin finish, plus it looks better. Ti can be polished or left matte and anodized pretty much any color.
Al on the other hand is often anodized since the Al-oxide that develops is much more scratch resistant than bare Al.
