Factory edge was quite dull so I tuned it up. Ended up with 220 on my sanding roll with my HIC mule.

I have my technique dialed in for putting an edge on this material. The latest cut test reached 400 which nearly doubled the last one. The stone I used was the spyderco cbn benchstone- 800 side only. In a perfect world it only takes 5 minutes, but I will retest that. I'm hoping with my 40/20 style testing I can cause some damage to the apex. And recreate the same sharpness standard in 10 minutes or less. I'm still establishing a performance plateau level, so I'm thinking the next edge results will be what I use for the 40/20 ice block test.

In terms of sharpness, I'd say the material is deceptive. And to the fingerpads it doesn't grip how we are used to with carbides in steel. Even at an 800 grit finish, I'd say draw cutting is the most effective way to evaluate and use. I still prefer steel bcuz it has more grip when cutting across its alloys.

Latest cut test numbers pull it ahead of maxamet by 110. I plan on testing this guy along with zdp 189 tomorrow on the ice. Instead of 60% aka 40-20 ratio, I'm thinking of just extending it 7 days to reach 60% on this ceramic. 36 cuts and 18 ice chops per day.

My cut numbers for my zdp 189 endura was 390 from my records.

ZDP-189 is still a favorite. Glad you are keeping it in your testing.

156 cuts followed by 78 chops on ice, then another 81 cuts to get 315 out of 390. Roughly an 81% efficiency rating. I have to mention that this knife was gifted to me by kurt for testing purposes.

The HIC mule wasn't able to pass day 2. After day 1 it was fine, but after day 2 it failed. It was still technically sharper at this point than when I received it. 2 days out of the benchmark 7 is a lot more brittle than I'd like to see. I'm deciding if it's the best course of action to do chops on a harder material next or not. Damage wise, not much but if I move to hitting a block of limestone, I might not able to do other testing.

400 grit cbn stone used for 3 minutes on my HIC mule. I expected it to exaggerate damage from the ice whacks but it didn't. It could be the damage was so small it just avoided it all together.

This week I'm testing an obvious clone of the buck 110 in 8cr13mov. I saw this at my local hardware store for 20 dollars. I haven't listed any spyderco 8cr testing results in this thread, so it should be a fun comparison. Build quality is very poor on the clone. Factory edge scored 35, 1st edge 70.
