Yojumbo M4
BladeHQ is dropping an exclusive Yojumbo in M4!
Release date is tomorrow, March 23 at 10am MT. The price is $179.99.
The Yojumbo has been deserving of more versions since its release, and at this exclusive is much cheaper than buying the standard s30v at today's prices. Are you buying one? Are m4 and Yojumbo a perfect combo? Will it sell out or sit?

Re: Yojumbo M4
I already have two I swapped my blades so I have a S90V with Jade scales and modded it. Love it and the stock one that is all black but M4 blade now. It’s a great knife for us big hand people. I’d get this one but I have others in mind to get. Happiness is a modded Spyderco

Re: Yojumbo M4
@Fireman nice! Do the jade scales have the same texture as the stock black ones?

Re: Yojumbo M4
I made the scales “Skinny” and added more room for my finger on the lock access. I also added a forward school that eliminates the nub when closed but the nub does not really bother me like it does on the Shaman. It’s a dream of a knife now. I swapped the blades so the M4 is on the carbon fiber now and that one is stock

Excellent work Fireman! These M4 YoJumbo are still in stock. At this price quite tempting to just get one and slap a pair of CF or OEM G10 scales on. Quite a big step up from my last Dragonfly mod yet the allure is becoming tangible. How are you liking your M4 Fireman?

Re: Yojumbo M4
I bought one that is going back immediately.
Poor opening and very tight closing action, offside blade, and blade wiggle.
Sadly It’s nowhere near the quality of the s90v yojumbo I have.

Re: Yojumbo M4
I'm really new to Spyderco but I ordered a blackout Yojumbo. I want to get an m4 eventually, and if I can, the carbon fiber sprint run.
I am curious and maybe someone can help me-- I see someone above did a blade swap.
Can you swap the liners also, like if you wanted to put the full blackout liners in the CF scales with an m4 blade if you wanna party? EDIT; looks like you can. i took it apart as soon as I got it and the skeletonized liners are removable so I might order a BHQ exclusive and do a liner/blade/hardware swap and make the S30V blackout wear natural G10 if i get the m4 satin one that's still available

Re: Yojumbo M4
i'm replying to myself here but I don't encourage doing any swaps unless you are willing to accept responsibility for whatever it is that you do to your stuff. I am familiarizing myself with other threads here about disassembly and I see the impact it has from the unscrupulous and others have to absorb the cost of negligence at times. enough about that.
As for me, I took mine apart but didn't do my full swap yet. Just wanted to see that I 'can' with the tools I have. After a major injury that I currently have clears up I will post pictures to share. God Bless and Stay Safe

I would imagine you could swap liners on this knife. Seems to me that liners would be pretty standard and wouldn’t have the issues that say the fitment of a lock bar to blade would have on a backlock or liner/frame lock. However, on a compression lock the one side is integral to the lockup and not sure how much those vary from knife to knife.
I guess you’ll find out when you try the swap! Looking forward to seeing it hopefully completed.

thank you for weighing in! It's appreciated. If it works out it's going to be awesome and similar to user Fireman's from above, which is what gave me the idea

Re: Yojumbo M4
I was going to do a hardware swap but the pivot and stop pin spacers/barrels are glued in and I don't want to damage anything or throw off the tolerances. My outcome was just to put the m4 blade on a blackout G-10 model.
Would putting the liners and scale that has the hardware glued in, into boiling water help break that loctite? I didn't have any luck with the soldering iron and if I have to use pliers I'm just going to accept the swap like it is (it's still really cool). many thanks
