Showing off something from the past. Sal said a long while back that it would need to be redesigned and new molds made to bring it back.

Ah, I'd forgotten I had a Cricket. I loaned it to a friend and it was lost to the TSA knife thieves. I loved that design but never carried it because the thin gap between the liner lock would catch the hairs on my hand when my hand was in the pocket.

my two crickets are quite used, a great little knife, in flat or serrated version, cutting power in a small package
the ones I have are stainless steel, I've never seen an FRN version

We did a run of FRN Crickets many years ago. Had problems with twist and the Linerlock. If we ever did it again, we'd have to use 2 liners or change the lock.

Sal, when you say “twist” are you talking about the pressure from the lock on the opposing axle? If so, what makes the Parar3 LW avoid this issue? Is it simply that a liner lock is not a comp lock? Is the FRN material? Something else?

It wasn't rigid enough and a slight twist permitted the Linerlock to unlock. I think I'll draw one up with a Compression Lock.

A compression lock cricket sounds very interesting sal. I love the cricket, very early into my spyderco addiction the cricket was my favorite model for a while. It’s still one of my favorite little edc folders by spyderco. A comp lock would interest me. Especially a integral frame compression lock for the original stainless handle
(Though I do think the deep cutout in the handle on the frame lock version is a very good design feature, the spyderco hole sits very nicely in cutout side of the handle)

Slipit would interest me more than a comp lock, but I never had a problem with the FRN version, either.

I've mentioned wanting a Cricket-fly (and Dodo-fly) a few times (maybe more than a few! lol) . Would a Cricket shaped SE Reverse S style blade not work in the existing Dfly 2 handle? You could even use the G10 Dfly (maybe even swap to Micarta? :P ) so it has the strength of the liners.

Sal, I have to admit that I love the idea of a Slip-it Cricket. I have one of the stainless steel models and it does make a great office knife. I think a slip joint on this model would work well.
