Sal and Co, Can you help? Endura 3 Wave

#1

Post by Dodge »

I’ve been in the hunt for an Endura 3 Wave for longer than I care to admit. Today that dream became a reality! I know from spydiewiki that there were 500 of them made. Does anyone know anything else about them?

Original forum that commissioned them?

Was this the first Spyderco with a wave?

Anyone else here have one?

ETA : title change to get more visibility.

Thank you. I got in a bidding war last year for one that I’ve regretted letting go ever since. I didn’t chance it this time. :winking-tongue

Sick knife! I had no idea there was a waved version of the E3. I'd be curious to hear any answers to your questions as well.

Held this blade at shot show and really liked it.

The Sabre ground blade is completely different - heavy towards the tip. Completely different opening and closing feel to me. More hefty. You agree?

I love the Emerson wave. Worked perfectly on every draw. I liked it more than expected

Also the wave grind significantly reduces the pocket-carry size by substantially reducing the blade height overall. I am a big fan

All I could find in the wiki article.

Emerson Wave opener were made for a self defense forum. It was limited to 500 pieces, of those a 25 were bought and embellished for Messerforum.net.

It's a starting point if you're interested in searching.

Yeah, I had that info already from the original post. That’s why I started this thread. The Messerforum’s came with a TiN gold clip with a black Spyder. I hopped on over there and did an archive search. Pretty cool stuff.

Which Shotshow was it at?
This year, in the regular display case (not the special ones for prototypes and upcoming sprints)

This version was only made in late 90’s early 2000’s. I doubt they had one on display recently.

Hi Dodge,

we've built quite a few of them across the year. I don't remember which was when. Maybe someone will?

Does your box not have the date code on the label? Mine is from May 2005.

No date code on the box my wave came in.

:thinking I am hoping those are Japanese characters on the box and not Chinese.
