Picked up a second hand Urban Jack, my first GEC. Not sure if I get the hype yet but snagged a good deal. Stoked on the pen knife blade, later runs had the sheep’s foot that I’m less stoked on.

Cleaned up the Micarta with some dish soap, an old toothbrush, and gentle sponge scrubbie. Gonna try to find my flitz to polish out some light spotting on the bolster and main blade.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

The hype is real. It's like they combined a GB2 and a Sebenza and made it a flipper

Stellar. Really love the handle shape and the CRK-like laidback design. Enjoy it!

Local store has had one sitting used BTW and it is out of my range. Those designs are killer!

Protech Malibu
Tiny little thing that packs a lot of edge for its size.

Flat screws and tight pocket clip with a landing spot. Very well thought out.

Compared to an Endela.

Blade is too thick for the size in my opinion, and needed an edge when I got it. Reprofiled a bit and will go lower the first opportunity I have.

Hope they let you touch it at least! This one is impossibly light. The used market on the BF Exchange is quite reasonable right now.

Agreed about the Malibu, I found the whole package just too thick... Keep hoping we see a Mordax with less belly.

I really like how Protech builds their knives in California, and they all feel good in hand, but they haven’t made a model that really calls out to me yet. Maybe a Mordax, if I find one for a good price.

Suprisingly this one is ok. Only because the size is too small. The grooves are awesome. Oddly is works. I am a thin guy with thin large hands, so I can squeeze and make it work even though I do not prefer it. More comfortable than a Delica for me, but I don't like how the guard on the Delica turns out and not more in a downward direction. Feels like it is pushing me off the back of the handle vs. this one holding on and locking in.

I think they have had enough success with this one that they may eventually go bigger. That would be a good choice. They are very well constructed.

Gun show tomorrow in Hickory, NC. There’s a vendor that’s always there that has plenty of Helle and Protech knives, I’ve been tempted plenty of times on several different Protech models! The last one was a Strider collaboration in MagnaCut, very nice knife!
