The Manix LW is really starting to grow on me.
Throw the upcoming CPM 15V and Magnacut versions into the mix and I could be very well tempted.

Nice to know Spyderco is sending Spy27 to Taichung. Does this mean the more popular models like the Chaparral and Kapara will be getting Spy27? Or is it just Sage sprint run?

i'm curious what the price will be. it's a substantial jump from s30v to spy27 with the native lw, so i assume the same will be true for the sage. that said, i've been waiting for the right spy27 knive and the right sage lw, so it's possible this may be the answer on both fronts for me.

Looks like they are recycling the same scales as the prior XHP LW Manix. Similar to the recycling of the nearly identical G10 of the previous 15V as the M390 variants.

More variety in steel should go with more variety in scales.

There was a KnifeCenter Exclusive Manix2 Lightweight with Satin CTS-XHP Blade and Brown FRCP back in 2016.

here are mine side by side. not a perfect comparison because the m390 has seen some use and is a little more worn, and the 15v is brand new.

Native5 SPY27 & FRN is $18.20 more than Native5 S30V & FRN and you really don’t gain anything.

An increase in ease of edge maintenance. In my experience with Spy27 it is a lot easier to bring back to a hair-popping edge.
Whether or not it’s worth the premium is debatable and down to the user.
I can only assume developing an exclusive steel isn’t cheap, hence the higher price.
