Spyderco has to pay for the Golden, CO. plant expansion somehow.
Gotta be able to keep up production on all those Para 2 and Manix variants.

Anyone seen any Spyderco price changes at U.S. dealers?

I checked a few dealers for a few items and don’t see any price increases or decreases…
Bumping this because Chicago Knife Works is one of the only retailers I've seen so far that has updated most of their prices.

Seems like most knives I checked were increased by about ~7% MAP. The Shaman and the G10 Natives feel like they suffer the most to me in this, as they were already not at great prices for the materials. The DLC coated Shaman is now close to 300 USD for S30V and G10 scales.

In those cases, comparing CKW with BHQ, the MSRP hasn’t changed. CKW is showing 25% off MSRP compared to 30% off MSRP for BHQ. It could be that MSRP hasn’t changed but MAP discount has. If that’s the case then for the consumer the price of all Spydercos have increased by about 7% across the board.

as much as i hate to see msrp go up, a map adjustment like this, combined with the recent addition of "map holidays", just encourages consumers even more to not buy anything all year in hopes of big discounts later. it seems like a really good way to not move product; perhaps worse than just raising prices. i'd be surprised though if we don't still see price increases also. january isn't over yet and this is about the time we're hit with new prices annually.

The annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas is next week on January 23–26, 2024 so we may see some announcements from Spyderco within the next week regarding prices and possibly a new Reveal.

There are 42 new knife models which have been announced in various past Reveals and not yet delivered! Hopefully, they’ll show up at the Revealed prices and not higher.

The whole point of the Reveal plan was to avoid this happening so interest wouldn’t wane while we wait.

At this point it’s no different than before the Reveals started, it gets here when it gets here and I don’t get my hopes up.

Spyderco being "early" in there reveals isn't a new thing. So far prices here in Europe also still seem to stay the same.
For us here locally they can raise map price as much as they want aslong as they keep msrp the same we will never notice anything. :squinting-tongue

Hopefully, we’ll see a new MSRP price list with the upcoming Reveal 15 and possibly an announcement from Spyderco if there are changes to the MAP discount rate.

I recall Rivers Edge having some of their offerings already illustrating inflated prices to some of their Golden models in stock, as of two days ago (1/22). The Military 2 and UKPK immediately come to mind.

I checked current prices for Military 2 & UKPK at River’s Edge Cutlery (REC) and Blade HQ (BHQ). The MAP prices at REC are 25% off MSRP and at BHQ it’s still 30% off MSRP.

So, it looks like MAP discount rate is changing on February 1, 2024 from 30% to 25% and thus street prices increasing by about 7%. It’s also possible that MSRP is increasing as well. I guess we’ll know soon enough.

Good catch!

I certainly hope both of those statements are not true, but as you say, we will know soon enough.

Anyone know if you preorder from a site like KC or BHQ if you lock in the listed price?

Eying the Microjimbo but seems to be on pre order everywhere. Interestingly, it appears BHQ prices have already increased compared to the others.

Preorder prices on KC should be locked in. I'd guess the same is true of BHQ, but I don't have experience.

I can confirm, in previous years, I've had preorders from both retailers which were placed before a price increase, and fulfilled post-price increase, in both cases I was only charged the original price, from time of order.

Im kind of glad of these price increase announcements as they have made the decision to put a halt to my knife purchasing that much more easier to make. A decision that I won’t take lightly as collecting knives has been a big part of my life for a long time.

I already own numerous knives with a variety of steels that require more use and more consideration than I could reasonably do in a lifetime. As for the seemingly endless pursuit of finding “The One”, the chances are I already own my grail knife, I just don’t realise it yet.

There comes a time when enough is enough.

I don’t see it as walking away from the hobby, but giving an opportunity for my collection to build memories.

In the words of Farmer Hoggett
“that’ll do pig, that’ll do.”
