Well, I got out relatively cheap this year (under a grand, that's cheap for me).

Had a Stormtrooper Manix until a line buddy saw it through the bag outside. Since I nabbed it on a whim, I traded it for the 204P G-10, (REC exclusive I think).

Is that a UKPK Heinnie heynes G10 that I spot?
If yes, out of curiosity how much did they go for?

From the models I saw, that would have been in my basket along probably a Caribbean.
Out of the premium model, I may have gone for a Drunken.

Thanks,

Great looking Manix Maxamet knives. Maxamet is pretty awesome for around the office EDC, I like it a lot.

Think you made a good trade, value wise for sure, but those storm trooper knives were unique. I am surprised they already had them as seconds.

People were asking for pix of the expansion, so I took a few, got them uploaded today. While I was walking around, the Construction Foreman came up to chat and invited me in to have a look. I did NOT take any pics inside, but if all goes well, next year's Sale is going to be very, very different.

Thanks,
Yes, that is the HH UKPK, cost me $52. And in looking that up, I dicovered an error, so it looks like I owe them some more money.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

Hopefully I'll get a UKPK at some point. That would be a Salt or the next HH one of they come up with one and dont make it too pricey.

Sitting at the airport and my heart is full! I could go to this sale and not get a knife and be content. This sale is more about the people to me than the knives. It is so awesome to meet up with friends year after year and make new friends that have never been and see them get drawn into the fun as well. I had an absolute blast this year and I’m already working on some really fun stuff for next years sale. Obviously if you come you are going to get great deals but I’d push you to come just for the experience. There is so much more going on than knives when you come to this sale. You are guaranteed to build friendships that will last for a lifetime.

They were selling some old advertising. There was a Spyderco spyder for sale black made of plastic 3d over 3 feet long and tall. I hope someone bought it. It was $50. I couldn’t get it on the plane.

A few hours later, now 151 "spyderco second" on eBay... I'll propose that instead of calling it the "Spyderco Seconds Sale," the event be re-named the "Flip It On eBay Sale." :squinting-tongue

Don’t worry I am sure they are selling them for what they paid.

Considering they sold on the order of 10,000 knives that day, a couple of hundred showing up on eBay is pretty small.

...in the first few hours!!! The hundred+ on eBay today is not the end of the flippery, by a long shot. Those are just the flippers who want to cash out immediately. And eBay is not the only platform for flipping. It's a flippapalooza!

While the flipping is kind of sad the knives are the buyer's to do what they please. I see nothing wrong with selling them as long as they disclose that they're seconds. They put up the money to buy them. There are no rules that say you can't sell them. If it gives someone else a chance to own a knife they want at a discount what's the big deal?

Have it in mind that ebay and other platforms are the only way for most people to get their hands on factory seconds. The only issue I see is the scammers trying to mask it as original brand new product.

The one good side for flipping here is maybe to cover some travel costs. Between the flight, food, car rental, etc it would cost me $500-$700+ just to participate.

The time I see where flipping hurts is if one person finds an awesome knife and buys it for the sole reason to resell. Takes it away from the person right behind them who would have wanted it for their collection.

Good or bad it is what it is.

Also thanks for all the photos, greatly appreciated.

Here's my haul. Half the folders are for me (all the fancy ones), the other half are to give away to friends (I already gave away the Manix 2 to a friend I visited after the sale yesterday). Going in, I was hoping to pick up a Kapara, McBee, and Yojimbo 2 so was pleased to find those. I hadn't expected to get a Drunken, but somehow it ended up in my basket at checkout. :')

It was beautiful weather, perhaps the longest line outside I've seen for one of these, and I had fun camping out with a bunch of forum friends I've made over the years, including finally meeting Rich in real life and getting to meet Ed Schempp (who has a very cool project coming up with Spyderco that I don't think we can talk about yet). Special thanks to Spyderco and all the employees who made this a great event!

Hi Jabba! Nice haul for sure! At this point about the only factory second I'd be interested in would a be a Drunken. I looked for them in the online seconds sale but they weren't listed. I'm curious to know how much they sold for?
