This is really a tough one because I've got so many different Spyderco blades that I use for a wide range of practical uses. But I'll try to condense it down to 5 models. To make it more fair for me there should be 5 SE and 5 PE to make it more realistic.

But here are the top 5 Spyders I tend to use the most.

(1) fixed blade TEMPERANCE 1 ( 2004 era) PE & SE
(2) my trusty M390 Military model ( my most used EDC ever)
(3) my older AUS-8, full SE Catcherman model
(4) C-60 Ayoob ( SE & PE)
(5) Stainless RESCUE ( ATS-55 era), full SE ( The knife is built like an Abrams TANK, you can't wear it out)

Delica 4 Lightweight
Endura 4 Lightweight
Delica 4 Trainer
Endura 4 Trainer
Police Model (old school, with riveted construction)

It may be a boring list, but it's a well-reasoned list based on years of proven service and a bit of nostalgia.
...

This choice of models make total sense to me, I personally could more than perfectly cover all my needs with Endura and Delica versions.

If so (just Delica and Endura platform), I´d go with an

- Ffg comboedge VG10 Endura (so a a thin red/blue line model) as my usual EDC
- The Salt version of the Endura in ffg (Pac Salt LC200N) and SE for the outdoors and light carry
- The Salt version of the Endura in sabre hollow grind and SE (Pac Salt in H2) for really hard work (especially when hard on the tip)
- A Delica 4(probably wharnie in PE, just to balance out all the "teeth" in my choices) as a small utility option
- And the Salt version of the Delica in ffg and SE (Salt 2 in LC200 N) as a superlight outdoor- and running carry

Again, this is the list if I could only choose Endura and Delica platform models.
My "real" 5 model list would include other Spydies too, have to think about it a for a bit longer though... very hard to do. :grimace ;)

-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

1. PM2 (pocket knife perfection/please make a LW)
2. PM3LW (my summer go to due to wire clip & LW)
3. Ikuchi (great suit knife & awesome design)
4. Delica (the classic and not scary to public)
5. Yojimbo 2 (Blacked out adds to the badass look)

I have the new native chief in mail so we’ll see if it reshuffles the order.

Welcome to the forum! :smlling-eyes

I am positive that a PM2 LW will come along rather sooner than later with 100% certainty. They just CANNOT NOT do this, not only, but also from a business perspective. Will be a mega seller imo.

/ Hope (and actually am pretty sure) you´ll enjoy your Chief! You´re talking about the lightweight, right?

It would be interesting to let this thread run until it slows down, then put all of the models in a list and determine statistics such as what percentage of different lock types, what percentage of different models and different steels.
paging bolster...

I tallied the first 3 pages. It seemed like the proportions were remaining pretty much the same at that point, so I stopped tallying. I might do the last pages later, but I'm guessing the proportions/ranking will look fairly similar. I took a few liberties. I grouped some knives.* I didn't record specifics like steel, since they were inconsistently mentioned. If you listed >5 knives, the first 5 got counted. You could mention the same knife up to 2x and I'd count both, but no mentions by the same person >2 were counted. And the lowest tally I put on the graphic was 5...obviously there were tallies all the way down to 1. So this is just a view of the most popular Spyderco knives among (the first 3 pages of) forumites.

Notice they are all in current production (except most of the Caly line isn't). It's typical for lists of "favorites" to be primarily of current production knives.

*Grouped versions together like Stretch I & II, all versions of Native, backlock with CBBL Manix, etc. Grouped the Calys, though I did not combine the UKPK with the Calys...you could argue they should have been grouped. I did not group the Nat Chief with the Native, but the Nat Chief didn't make much of a showing.

My dump tray with my current rotation.

UKPK in S30V
Native 5 in SE Magnacut
Leafjumper in SE K390
Manix 2 LW Maxamet
Manix 2 XL CRUWEAR

I will rotate these 5 for a few months. I don’t think I could decide on these 5 (or any 5) forever, but these 5 span my daily carry use. The Leafjumper gets the most pocket time right now.

Domino, Yojimbo 2, Native 5 LW, Endela, Dragonfly.

Though after having experienced so many wonderful models like the Manix, Delica, Drunken etc, it would feel like missing out on other equally capable tools.

Yep. It's the same. I didn't catch it or have time to watch it before and then it was suggested to me today.

With that said, David's final three are how I am leaning also. (Don't want to spoil it for anyone yet to watch. ;) )

Thanks for sharing that video guys, dca definitely turned me on to the Caribbean model a bit more from it. Probably would be my best hard use folder in that size category too. The lil temperance is definitely high up there for me and still probably my favorite tougher use folding knife design of all time of any size category. Lil Temperance 1 though specifically (please bring back eventually?). All the calypso family of knives and the kopa are my favorite spydercos but aside from them the original temperance fixed blade and lil temperance are my next favorite models of spydercos lineup

The dude from Knifecenter makes a good case for choiless designs doesn’t he?
More edge, more comfort etc… I think he’s onto something.

Makes me appreciate how much edge my Spydiechef manages to shoehorn into its frame.
