:smlling-eyes Image Here is one of the clunkers . They propel by air , and spring . A lot of high tech engineering to shoot a pumpkin in a corn field !

I am definitely not a pumpkin expert, but would agree - if you're getting the little green lightbulb fruits at the base of spent flowers, which then withers away, try more water. My pumpkin plants this summer were much less expressive than for ex. the cucumbers in terms of feeling thirsty, so they just got watered when everything else did.

(This led to some of the larger heirloom tomatoes splitting, but excellent-tasting cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and a good pumpkin crop, so YMMV.)

Also, speaking of baby pumpkins - I did plant some baby pumpkins of the "wee-b-little" cultivar and they ripened up faster than their larger relatives -

Family visited and their dogs taught our dogs to dig all the pepper plants out of the garden. >:[

Replanted, watered, salvaged what was mostly ripe or completely torn off and waiting to see what comes back while planning a fence.

Manixguy and Mrj - sunflowers look good! I'm impressed at how full the heads still are; the goldfinches start checking ours out when the seeds are nearing ripe and once they are will go nuts on them. Between the finches hanging off the flowers and the mourning doves cleaning up on the ground it seems like it only takes a few days to clear the seeds out.

Please excuse the terrible zoomed in phone pic - here's a male American Goldfinch surveying our sunflowers a couple weeks ago -
