That is quite the list, longest I've seen in my time here. Some shocking, some expected. Makes me wonder if the Byrd lineup is struggling with all the competition in that price range these days?? More room for new models I suppose! Can't wait for SOMEONE to come in here and let us know he needs 25 of these and start 25 threads about them :eye-roll
Well if you go on a dealer's website and show all the folders by increasing price, you see what byrds have to compete with and it's not really any competition when it comes to materials sadly.

The designs are really good but IMO they're overshadowed by the construction and materials used by brands like QSP, Bestechman and many others...
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Torn on these K390 wharncliffes... On the one hand could always use more K390. On the other, the S30V Delica wharncliffe I picked up end of last year has not at all displaced my usual hap40 Delica.

Hmm. Wallet might be safe this time around.

I was hoping for a long list this year!!!

Oh boy, this year delivered! :party-face

I see this as a good thing. It’s really going to open up production capacity and allow for a lot of new stuff again! The future is bright! :cheap-sunglasses :bug-red

This is how I see it also.
I would go even a step or two further and say that due to the economic situation, demand destruction is real. The global economy is shifting gears. Soon, the long factory queues might be a thing of the past.

One thing I notice, that doesn't bother me much... or even at all, is that the brown handle color seem to be going out of favor across the line.

If it's a poor performing colorway that's understandable, but if they already know this it seems an odd choice for the CPM M4 variants of the value line. Granted the G-10 looks a bit more tasteful in pictures, but I was hoping for LW's to follow

Man, after I decided instead of getting my first CRK this weekend (had a Sebenza lined up) I went ahead and helped deplete some stock at Knifecenter and DLT on Spydercos which definitely had the best deals that I saw…I started with the Delica k390 wharnie which I got at DLT cuz KC was sold out, then I went down my list of things getting discontinued: Rock Jumper SE…Resilience CE Blacked out…Atlantic LC SE…and two Roadies-OD green and Brown (one’s a gift)…then added everything up and it was $100 less than the Insingo so I don’t feel so bad…hopefully we’ll start seeing some of the latest Reveals now

Man, so many good and interesting knives are on the chopping block. I must admit, when I read your first two lines I thought to myself, "wow, rude." However, I think you are right. We all have our own pet projects that we would like to see hit retailers. That could be models, steels, handle materials, or whatever. Spyderco can't produce everything all the time; hard decisions had to be made.

In the end, there is a silver lining to all of this. Fans of the knives listed here can scoop them at (hopefully) a good price. Plus, the extra capacity (and Golden expansion) open up so many new possibilities.
There were some good models that got discontinued this year but in my opinion, they got rid of a lot of redundancies in their catalog and it feels like they gave themselves a lot of, needed, room to breathe. :respect :bug-red

Yes, I'm very excited to see what happens moving forward now. I thought my knife collecting was over, but something tells me there's going to be some interesting things in the works here in the future :cheap-sunglasses

I was shocked to see the list especially the Byrd line . I have always felt the multi color scale line up of the Delica and Endura was an overload . I see maybe one or two of interest but I will probably pass . I look forward to see what is next and upcoming . I think this is going to be an exciting time . Dan

Always wondered about the byrd line and if it was actually profitable. the spyderco name has all the backing to it and following, if i saw one for sale i probably would know it was part of spyderco unless i owned a spyderco. just make the spyderco hole in them instead and call everything a spyderco.

I was most shocked about the atlantic salt in LC200N. met a guy who an under water welder and he said that in no uncertain terms the Atlantic salt SE was one of the best diving knives. Wonder if Seki is moving to magna-cut instead?

Glad I was able to score a factory second Waterway. Great knife, the only thing I'd change is blade length. It would be better at 6" IMO.

There's still a yellow H1/H2 SE Atlantic Salt.

When Spyderco moved the yellow Native Salt from LC200N to Magnacut, nothing got discontinued if I remember correctly. The part numbers didn't change.

I, too, am curious to see what new models will appear after all this manufacturing capacity has been freed up. And I'm VERY glad that I was able to grab a CQI Paysan in the drop back in March.
