GEC 98

:usflag
Nice. Those are big boys. Is that the whittler pattern?
98 cattle. I have a 2 of the 98 whittlers.

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Nice one!

My only three blade GEC is this #35 all steel construction cattle knife.

I am somewhat partial to the all steel traditionals, but i still have a handful of brass lined GECs too. I love the look, feel and sound of the steel build.
PXL_20230801_005219643sm.jpg
I also have a Waynorth Blackjack that has nickel silver liners and pins--which i also like that look over brass liners.

I still on the whole like a lot of brass lined knives. My latest two GECs are these Cody Scout lockbacks :cheap-sunglasses

I haven't kept up with GEC in a while. I prefer the larger patterns like the 23 and 98. I don't think they're going to make the 98 for quite some time if ever again. I snagged every variant I could find and some back ups too. Of course that was when they first came out. I surely can't afford GECs at the secondary market prices. I didn't know they did steel liners. I think every GEC I have is brass. Charlie definitely gets some nice exclusives made. Really like the shield he uses. Looks great on my 98 camp in red bone. Looks like you have some nice ones too.

Thanks. Yeah, Charlie's Texas Camp Knife is awesome. I don't have one, but they look really good.

The scramble for GECs is pretty bonkers these days. Possibly harder than buying some Spyderco sprints and exclusives.

I just enjoy the ones I do have.

Feeling lucky to have one with the polished handles and flats before the price increase happened for that option. The one that led me down the CRK rabbit hole!

Man I don’t know if I could talk myself into using that beautiful knife, but I know it could take whatever you put it up against…now the Umnumzaan or PJ I’d borderline abuse…very nice 👊

It is admittedly one of only 2 of my knives that sees very little actual use. But that's why I grabbed that Insingo/Micarta/Magnacut version. This one felt like such a little tank, but too nice for the warehouse use.

I don’t blame you one bit for keeping it pristine…I want that exact version of the Sebenza, I just can’t decide to go large or small 🤔

A few firsts here - first wood inlay, first glass blast, first large insingo. Most expensive knife to date too. I'll not repeat that soon...

So far I'm really liking how CRK's Magnacut performs (on a large micarta inlay). I feel Spyderco missed the boat on the Magnacut drops.
