Get a Sharpmaker and just get good at getting sticky sharp edges with it. Invest in the diamond rods, use a sharpie to make sure you’re hitting the entire edge before moving up a grit, and start your sharpening journey! My first Spyderco I sharpened was a pm2 in s30v which wasn’t too hard to work with as a beginner; by all accounts s45vn should be easier to sharpen than that.
I feel ok getting the burr formed with the Worksharp on the S45VN but hadn’t ever deburred before moving to the next grit. I’ll try the sharpie, is it just making sure all the sharpie marks are gone on the bevel to the apex before moving up on grits?

I think the dragonfly is my next one!! Which model would you suggest for edc and some food prep stuff?
That’s great to hear, my favorite Dfly is the H2 SE…it stays sharp forever and is really slicey…my absolute favorite knife hands down!!!

In essence, yes. In practice it’s not that simple sometimes. The beauty of the Sharpmaker is that you use alternate strokes, so in theory you’re removing the burr every time you switch.

Between you and Wandering I feel like a rookie, unbelievable reprofiling skills 👏👏👏
Thank you! Got to test it out on some cardboard this morning and its a pretty mean edge. Slices quite well with its 180 grit apex!

Do you sharpen those blades like your knives? 🤔
I must admit that I don't put nearly the kind of care into lawn mower blades that I do into knife edges. Mower blades get the angle grinder treatment and a quite obtuse edge angle.
Because desolate places allow us to breathe. And most people don't even know they're out of breath.

Good lord what happened to that blade? How did you manage to take such a massive chunk out of it?

EDIT: Nevermind. I see my stupid mistake now.

EDIT AGAIN: I'm thinking about buying one of these. How do you like it? How has it held up for you?
