This knife is seriously nice. It’s probably one of the highest quality knives i have handled. It’s gorgeous as well. Im extremely impressed. It’s also one of the most fun knives to open I’ve ever had, and it has greatly acoustics.

One question I have regarding mine: is my lock face normal? Anyone have something similar? The cut out doesn’t go all the way over and im worried it will shorten the longevity of my lock as it wears in. You can see where the lock is hitting now.

Is that metal being removed, scratches or dirt deposit. I had a little dirt deposit which I cleaned off with a Q-Tip. Also, I open mine gently and make sure there’s no oil on the lock contact.
If i wipe it, it’s still there, it’s just being polished where contact is being made. Im more concerned with the lock face cut stopping short. But it may be like that on all of them, which is why i am curious what other people’s subverts look like.

Here are similar pictures of mine. Hope that helps...

Really appreciate it! Looks the same as mine, which answers my question.

Love this knife!

When metals of different hardness repeatedly mate, galling of the softer metal is certainly possible.

My Sage2’s framelock lock-up—involving a titanium lockbar on a S30V lockface—has increased from about 30% new to about 95% now, even though the lockface is angled to compensate for galling. What happens regarding vertical blade-play when lock-up reaches 100% is a concerning mystery…

Is my Subvert sprint—involving a titanium lockbar on a 20CV lockface—similarly fated? I don’t know. I can say I have wiped off detritus, which I take to be rubbed-off titanium, from the lockface with the blade closed, and a mark remains on the lockface.

But, unlike my framelock Sage2 (and my titanium-handled linerlock Henningssen Vrango), the lockface of the Subvert sprint (OG, too?) seems to be ground to maximize the delay of 100% lockup.

I wonder if this grind will be as effective as the steel insert on the titanium lockbar of my Slysz SwayBack.

Does anyone know if the lockbar face is carbidized? Wouldn't that reduce the wear between the lockbar and the blade steel? Apparently, the process may cause other problems, but I've already purchased the knife, and was just wondering ...?

The knife is serious good. Working on my thoughts on the knife but great first impressions. Love the blade profile, especially the tip. I need find a different pocket clip because it gives me a hot spot. I would absolutely love to see a fixed blade version along with a budget lock back version. I truly would love for it to have a front and back flipper options to make it super fidget friendly to go with its great action. It’s a great user design but as a mechanical art piece, it is great.

Great price. I should’ve waited. That’s 40% of MSRP.

That's an incredible deal - if I had seen it I would have definitely grabbed one. They still have them for $360 at GPKnives: https://www.gpknives.com/spyderco-subve ... older.html

Pretty dang irritated that I just shelled out the full 420 with these guys on Thursday. Might have to make a phone call.

Still stoked to check out this knife tho! So much cooler lookin' than the orange version.

I hope you love it. I didn't think I would, but I did...do...did...do. Not a day goes by now without me fantasizing about things to cut with it.

Used mine to unpack these ridiculously over wrapped light fixtures at work this morning. It performed very well and much more nimble than the clunker I thought it was gunna be. One thing I realized about the blade profile is that it allows you to push cut with the nose or “tip” of the knife. I usually like acute and pointy tips on my knives, but I’m finding this belly has utility in that it performs like a razor edged chisel

This thing is a magnificent beast, a bargain at any price, lol.

Hydraulic action without a hint of lockstick and about 60 percent or so lockup. The carbon fiber is really nice and it is hair shaving sharp. It's thicker than a lot of Spydies, but it's no Tatanka or anything. It really is a frame lock that acts like a liner lock.

Now, to coon finger and chicken eye this thing to death. Fob it up a little maybe!

I paid full price and although I clearly would have liked to have paid less I still feel like I got a good deal and a good value. It’s a joy of a knife on about every level and the craftsmanship is superb.
