DLT Cruwear Endela

#1

Post by jdw »

I haven’t seen this posted yet so I thought that I would put it out there. I am pretty excited about this one. It will be my first Endela and in a combo that I really like.

I love the color combo, but I'm not sold on Cru-Wear. I could look up how awesome Cru-Wear is, or just post it here.

Cruwear isn’t my favorite steel but I like it, and like you, I like the color combo. I am sure there are plenty of people on the board willing to offer up greater praises for Cruwear to you than me.

a lot of people have been waiting for the endura, since this combo predates the endela. i wish it was an endura wharncliffe.

I'll end up getting one of these. Not sure what's not to like about Cru-Wear? I find it easy to sharpen, and having good (not super) edge retention and better corrosion resistance than say K390. I could do without the coating but love the Endela and don't dislike Cru-Wear.

Count me in. It will go with the Dragonfly they released a while ago.
Love the color combo and Cruwear is a great blade steel.

The Endela is a really excellent knife. This is another sweet variation.
However, I have the basic VG10 Rockjumper and Endela to compare, and the Rockjumper/leafjumper is just a better model for me. I’d be much more likely to go for variations of those and that is going to keep me from this.

Uncoated Endura would be a buy. Something about blacked out blades doesn’t work for me. I only have one DLC blade.

The "Delivered and Upcoming" thread says this knife has a TiCN coating. I haven't seen that before, usually just cerakote or DLC.

I think I remember Eric mentioning testing a new coating. Is this it?

TiCN is the coating used on knives made in Japan and Taiwan. DLC is used on Golden made knives. I don’t think Spyderco uses Cerakote on their knives but I could be forgetting something at the moment.

Thanks, Shannon and Nick. The GB2 and CF Chaparral are the only Japan or Taiwan made knives I have. Neither blade is coated, so TiCN is a new one to me.
