So you are the "someone" Rymanz. Thanks.

So today is a good day for the Manix 2. This one is on the way and the one I thought I lost is sitting next to me right now.

I need to find some way to celebrate.

Manix 2 is ground thicker than it should be but you can say that about most production knives.

I’m the only poster between you and Rymanz’s last post. Are you addressing me with this post?

I am not the “someone” you might be referring to, as I didn’t put mine up for sale. If I don’t get a second one, I don’t intend to sell my one 15V Manix.

OK, success.

Thanks to all who helped. I took my first look at the alert thread, it mentioned a 199 offer from an Ebay seller with 100 percent feedback and claiming to be an "authorized reseller" and jumped on it. Free shipping. Someone came into the thread to say the seller was legit for him on a prior sale.

Ebay tells me it is "on the way"

199 is a minor premium over the retail price, but much better than the 299 scalper prices.

So I'll say thanks here rather than abusing the alert thread.
No problem, glad to assist, enjoy the knife!

No sir. I think your post slipped in while I was composing mine.

It was salimoneus that gave the original heads up in the alerts thread (thanks!) and then Rymanz who added his endorsement of the seller (thanks again!). I sort of felt bad for just referring to Rymanz as "someone" in my original comment, so I tried to straighten that out in my comment.

Don't sell anything you don't want to sell, that is my only advice.

Actually I think I did notice you offering to possibly (maybe) sell a second knife if it came your way, which would be very nice of you if all that takes place. And I apologize for being a bit of a smart-***.

It got me thinking about times I have sold things I didn't want to. One was a knife that a fellow I worked with kept endlessly pestering me about. I think I finally gave it to him. It was a strange thing. A double edged dagger sort of blade and the handle had brass knuckles your fingers went into when you gripped it. I think I parted ways with it back in 1975. At this point I am not sure if I wish I still had it or am glad not to. Blade was probably 7 inches long. Some kind of steak knife perhaps.

No worries! I appreciate the apology, but it’s not necessary since I didn’t read your response as snarky.

I'm floored by the comaraderie shown regards the 15V Manix. Lotta people helping their Spy-bros find a 15V. Buddafucco leading the charge to get 15Vs distributed to forumites, but lots of others helping too. Must be the spirit of Christmas?

I’m going to get my CPM 15V reground to be very thin. The problem will be finding a knifemaker that wants to deal with knocking a .025” thick 15V edge down to .006”-.007”. I just had Tom Krein do some regrinds for me so I don’t want to bug him again so soon. I’d love for Shawn to do it since his logo is on the blade and he really knows that steel, but with a newborn son and his normal custom work he probably wouldn’t have the capacity to take it on. I know the regrind wouldn’t be cheap, but I’d just love to be able to compare it like for like against my other thinned out Manix 2s in a variety of steels from Cruwear to S110V. Does anyone else want to have theirs thinned out?

I'd love a regrind! I don't use my folders for hard use anyway, that's what my fixed blades are for :winking-tongue I'd assume the 15V steel would still perform amazing if/when ground thin behind the edge.

Just got an in-stock notification from BladeHQ, but when I went to the site it was out of stock. Their notification system is buggy...
same, earlier today I got a notification, but less than 10 minutes after the email popped they were OOS.

I had at least ten dealers set to notify me when they got stock, but only two did. BHQ wasn't one of them.

Interestingly, BHQ does a "pre-order" where you pay a non-refundable five dollar deposit, with no specified release date. The first time I saw that, it irritated me, and I decided to buy my knives elsewhere. But when I kept striking out on the 15V and BHQ finally got some in stock, I swallowed my pride and added it to my cart. Then I thought to myself that I could have avoided all the drama of "the hunt" if I just preordered from BHQ in the first place.

If they still had it for pre order I would buy one

I think I have gotten 3 notifications from BladeHQ and each time it was out of stock by the time I got there. The last time it was 19 minutes after the notification when I checked. I don't think anything is wrong with their notification system, It is "the early bird gets the worm". If you don't get the beep and get there in 60 seconds or so, the game is over. Or something like that.

Someone said that dealers are getting these in batches of 5 knives at a time. I think this is Spyderco's way of "spreading out opportunites" and giving everyone more chances to roll the dice and get one. I am just guessing of course, but if so, I like it.

I tried a preorder once (not from BladeHQ) and it was my worst knife buying experience ever! I sat there watching outfits with the knife I wanted in stock and kept waiting for my preorder (which never did get filled). I finally canceled it and grabbed an available knife. Never again. NEVER.

The root problem is that sellers can't be sure of quantities they are going to receive. And you don't know where you are on their preorder list. You can play that game if you want to. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but most definitely wasn't.
